Vehicles are required to be licensed, but if they are licensed as 'Historic' vehicles (pre 1977), although they are required to be licensed, there is no duty (tax) to pay for the licence.

Pre 1960 vehicles are exempt from MOT testing, but they are required to be licensed, again no duty is payable as they are 'Historic' vehicles.
