Cheque deposit now available on Halifax app

I noticed last week that the Halifax app is now offering mobile cheque deposits (photo both sides of cheque, clears on next working day). Maximum £100 per cheque, maximum £500 per day.

Seem like a good service in principle, but still feels like it is under testing.

Not had much success so far:
  • Metro Bank cheque deposited, but returned unpaid on next day. No reason given.
  • TSB cheque not accepted as the bank does not support the system yet.
  • Halifax cheque still pending after two working days.

Showing as cheque max £500 with daily limit of £1000 in my app.

Maybe the limits have changed or are account specific?

Same in mine now too. Must have changed since last week.

So at the moment all it's doing (in at least 2 of your 3 attempts) is adding several days to the normal 2-4-6 cycle - not exactly a great leap forward!

Indeed. The TSB cheque was rejected immediately (the app must do some validation on the sort code, which is good), but the Metro Bank cheque was returned unpaid with no reason after one day.

It does sat Beta in the app, so yes it is still under test.

That's three out of three cheques failed. All added time to the 2-4-6 cycle. I give up until it's out of beta.

I used it for a British Gas cheque.

Took a few attempts to get it to scan, but it was accepted and has cleared.

Saves a journey to the bank.

Hopefully it will improve as time goes on.

Or maybe British Gas could start doing FIT payments via BACS!
PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)

I found it scanned easier with the flash on (bottom right corner of screen has a toggle button). Very clear image, which it converted into black and white, like a scan.

I think my issue may be that I am trying to deposit to a Bank of Scotland account. I have written myself a cheque and "deposited" it into my Halifax account, just to see if this is actually the problem.

Cheque cleared overnight. Seems deposit into BoS accounts is unsupported, but it still lets you do it. Probably a beta problem.

I'm a bit surprised that they don't, my FIT payments from Scottish Power go straight into my account, usually before I've actually received the letter to tell me it's on the way.
