Capital One Application Taking Over 2 Weeks

How long should a web application take? It's been over two weeks from Capital One now and when I called, their automated response says don't bother asking about it unless it's been more than 3 weeks.

There has been a lot of demand and a postal strike, so yes things could be slow.
If they say don't phone for 3 weeks then I'd folow their advice.0 -

How far have you got so far? I applied on-line on Tuesday 16th, & yesterday, 18th, got a letter dated 17th, with the agreement for signing & sending back.
I was therefore hopeful of getting the card back equally promptly, but maybe now I'm in for a long wait?0 -
Barter you got further than me. I'm still waiting for any letter after trying to sign up 2 weeks ago.0

Did you get an instant on-line decision?0

Did you get an instant on-line decision? If not, maybe you could try again?
Sorry about the 2 posts - tried to add a bit more & they obviously both went through.0 -
I applied 2 Oct and did not get an instant decision. Received acceptance letter dated 5 Oct on 11 Oct (probably held up by the posties) posted back 12th and received cards today, so 17 days.0

I got an instant decision on line, sent the paperwork back last Friday (delayed due to strike - grr!), and I'm hoping that the card will come through on Monday because I have a huge purchase to make on 23rd which is why I applied for the card in the first place!!!' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0

No, should have mentioned I didn't get an instant decision. Still 2+ weeks? ... :sad:0

The letter just arrived. There was a problem processing my address even though I know it was right on the website. I was given the option of calling or sending an update, so I called of course and they now have my address on the system. He said they'd do the check on Monday and if it's okay I will hopefully have an application to me this week.0

I applied and was accepted on the 28th, cards arrived yesterday but no PINs yet.
If the 3 months at 4% starts when you are accepted then I've lost nearly a month and I'm not up and running yet!
Further I trust Capital One will not scrap the 1% after a year like they did with their previous cash back card.0
