The problem of Transfering money from any Bank AC to Nationwide "SAVING account" is well known, as it has been reported a few times here. It also happens with SO to Nationwide saving AC. It seems something to do with the sort code problem on the NW saving account.

If you want to do SO / transfer to their RSA it is better to transfer it to Nationwide AC first and then move it to RSA internally so you could see exactly the money has arrived in the RSA. Otherwise, you might miss your payment on that particular month.

I use TSB as my basic every day bank account, I have had the account since I was 17 originally it was Lloyds but they automatically changed me to TSB a few years ago. I had no problems I use the online banking a fair bit and I often transfer extra money from TSB into my Savings account at Nationwide. This has worked great for years but tonight when I have tried to send some money over to Nationwide it now states:

"Your recipient's account doesn't accept payments through the Faster Payments Service so we can't make this payment. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you." :(

Why would they change thing? I have contacted both as obviously someone has changed a policy somewhere along the lines as I have never had trouble before and this always worked out really well for me until now.

Their help section Just says "We suggest that you ask the recipient for an alternative account that can accept Faster Payments. You can also pay by cheque or, if the payment is urgent, visit your nearest branch to make a CHAPS" this is now a total pain as I like to skim my account or send over any extra money so I don't spend it :rotfl:
  • On the Nationwide banking app this morning there was a message about work being done on the faster payments so I suspect this is why.

Today is the Halifax that can't send money to Nationwide ISA's. Try it and you'll see. The payment either ends in error, or goes through without error but then a reversing credit is posted. And these are payees I had already used before.
From another bank I can send fine (although I haven't got an account with TSB to try).
did you note the date of the last post?

There will always be times when there are payment transfer issue, often related to internal issues or the simple fact something has timed out.

I don't suppose you have reached your annual ISA allowance by any chance?
This would be one reason why the credit would be reversed.
Another could be that the ISA has gone 'fallow' ie dormant - when did you last put money in?

The ISA is in good working order, and today it accepts payments from other banks, just not the Halifax. I've got two ISA's there, and today the Halifax can neither send to the old one it used to be able to send before nor the latest one.
Not that I have an explanation for why deposits from Halifax would be rejected, but you are not supposed to deposit into more than one cash ISA in the same tax year

Nationwide, possibly uniquely, allows you to open more than one cash ISA each year and split your annual ISA allowance between them. So, for example, you could open both a fixed rate ISA and an instant access ISA and pay into both of them in the same tax year, as long as you don't go over your overall annual limit.
