Large car parked on corner - can anything be done?

What do you expect the police to do?.....
Going on what they did when I reported a car (as it was "parked" about 3ft from the kerb at the corner of a junction - posing a hazard as you couldn't see what traffic was coming), they'll contact the owner and tell them to get it shifted forthwith or they'll be charged.parking_question_chap wrote: »Erm move it.
If its as OP describes then its a danger to other road users.
Ideally the Police should make contact with the owner and get them to move it. Though I dont expect its going to be high up their list of priorities, its worth asking.
In my experience, they tend to be pretty good (at least where its genuinely causing an obstruction or posing a danger to other road users, not so much when the person has just parked like a !!!!!) with these things - perhaps because they don't have to hunt for a culprit, they need only consult their database for the RK details. You keep using that word. Thanks, good to hear a similar experience. Based on the comments here I think I will try 101 and explain - I'm sure it would be classed as an obstruction. At least I will have tried!0 -

Why not chuck in some other minorities while you’re on?0 -
You could try reporting it as abandoned if it hasn't moved.
My local council allow you to do this online (https://www.scambs.gov.uk/content/abandoned-vehicles-faqs).
I reported a vehicle causing an obstruction by a junction which was causing issues. It was a local resident who moved it swiftly when the Council issued the 7 day notice. It has stopped their behaviour as they no longer park so close to the junction.
In my area the Police treat parking issues almost as a civil offence and the responsibility has fallen to County Councillors, Parish Councils and Neighbourhood Watch to try and deal with problem areas.Mortgage free wannabeMortgage (November 2010) £135,850Mortgage (November 2020) £4,7840 -

Why not, those seem to be the trigger to get the police and other agencies to react nowadays.0 -

The OP says they've checked and that the vehicle is MOT'd and Taxed, so it is unlikely the council will treat it as abandoned. In my area the Police treat parking issues almost as a civil offence and the responsibility has fallen to County Councillors, Parish Councils and Neighbourhood Watch to try and deal with problem areas.
As stated earlier in the thread, if it is contravening parking restrictions then it is down to the council, if it's causing an obstruction then that falls to the police.0 -
Phone 101 and give the reg, they should do a PNC and if it comes back as a local address they will knock.0

In fairness to the police we used to have a big van park on a bend ( not a junction ) opposite our drive and on the pavement. It did make it hard for oncoming traffic to see round it.
On of our neighbours eventually called the police and the police did come and track down the owner and told them not to park there again.0 -
