    Afternoon all.
It's been a lovely sunny day but the clouds are beginning to gather now.
Didn't get to sleep till about 2am as was still coughing, really fed up with it now .
Anyway I ventured out this morning to town, to get some money out of the B Soc and then went round the corner to put it straight in the bank. That's the window money tucked away and ready.
Went to Li*l on the way home for milk, bread and fruit. Now I feel worn out and we were only out for an hour :(.
The DW has been filled and now doing it's thing. I feel like I should be doing something but I haven't got the energy. Hopefully I can muster up some to change the bed tomorrow.
Dad came over for his tea last night, at least he's had a home cooked dinner and went away with enough for another meal. There was loads left over so I thought I'd put it in the freezer, not a chance ! It seems someone keeps filling it up when I turn my back :rotfl:. So it's in the fridge until I can summon up the energy to play freezer tetris. I did find some HM corned beef pasties in there, lying right on the top so we will have those with probably oven chips, maybe able to wedge the curry and rice boxes in then.
DD is calling in after school to pick up a parcel and for us to pay the rest of our football tour money. It's half term here next week and I'm sure the whole family will be happy to have a rest.
TA I don't know where the Sandman is, probably keeping his distance from me and my lurgy :rotfl:. I'm jealous of the new kitchen, sounds just like the sort of thing I want and keep looking at longingly, on Escape to the country :(. Don't envy the upheaval though.
Nelski we have an " office " like that, it hasn't been used as such since Mr Fix It retired and is now another dumping ground :o.
Hope everyone is having a good Thursday and hugs to all.
By the way if anyone finds the Sandman lurking in a wardrobe/cupboard, please put a flea in his ear and send him packing. There are people on here who are desperate for his services :rotfl:.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently

Jackie - Is that seriously their method for picking a holiday? Very brave.

Speky I love the unexpected nature of it. Its a great way to find a different sort of holiday, and my friend and I love it Over the past 14 years we have visited Staffordshire, Lancashire, The Cotswolds,Glocestershire, Dorset, The IoW (I know it very well but she had never been ) Suffolk,Norfolk,Derbyshire,Hampshire, Worcs ,Devon, and in each area we have met some smashing people and seen some amazing sights.

Her and her husband travel quite a lot overseas and have done two long six months trips over the past 20 odd years .

13 years ago my friend and i did a three week trip around north east America staying in motels and had a fabulous time. She is an excellent travelling companion . I am sure going to the Stratford-on-Avon area will throw up some different things for us to see. The UK has some amazing scenery, and we love trying the different local food from where ever we stay.

A week away from our respective grandchildren and families whom we both love, recharges our batteries, and we certainly don't go for the sunshine :)

I always said we should write a travel book called The Travels of Two Little Old Ladies :):):)

We find the best places to eat for very little, and always have a natter to anyone who happens to be in the tea shop :)

Had some hair raising times as well, I once almost demolished a line of praying nuns when turning a sharp corner in Wolsingham in Norfolk.:eek:

There is a shrine there that is visited by people from all over the world, and its a very small village in Norfolk with not a lot of turning room in the village streets, they were ok though, and smiled and bravely waved at their narrow escape :rotfl:

When we were in the USA we were in an Amish area and my DD texted me from the UK to see how I was getting on, and my reply floored her as I said
'I can't talk now I am in the middle of Intercourse ' (the name of the village:):))

apparently she was at work and yelled out 'What on earth is my aged Mum up to ':) to the amusement of her work colleagues.:D:D

I have a great time with my best friend no matter where we go, one of the joys of growing old is if you can enjoy every minute you can then it keeps you young

Nelski; I remember sitting up till God know what time in the morning when we had the 'Blackpool meet up ' drinking goodness knows what and laughing like a drain with the others that we met. Growing old disgracefully is one of the greatest pleasures in life:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    JackieO xx

PS Nelski our book club is far more sedate we have a cup of tea and a biscuit if we are lucky, but then it is run and funded by the local council :):):) can see them coughing up for prosecco

If ever your friend's finger alights upon Concrete Cow Country, I can point you in the direction of some interesting places to visit; and some nice walks, if you're up for walking. :o People knock Milton Keynes, but really, it does have a lot to offer.

I didn't get onto MSE yesterday; we visited the cinema in the afternoon, so I was pretty wiped out after that. Strange and interesting film - "The Shape of Water". My CEA card has certainly earned it's keep this time; we've used it several times since I got it last June (it's renewed annually).

Plumber who was supposed to come last Friday  has just been and fitted the new kitchen tap, so hopefully no more drips. I'd been putting a jug under the dripping one to catch the water, much to Mr LW's amusement. Well, water costs money!! :money:I kept out of the way, as I'd likely have chewed him out for not letting us know he wasn't going to make it.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Is it the kind of pan that you could reseason by coating it in a little oil and heating it on the hob?

Spent this morning looking over the Witch reports for prams and travel systems and have found a few that look good but obviously decisions are up to dd and sil. I also found a few online sites with sales on that would be worth re looking at in a few months.

Breakfast was toast with egg and bacon and lunch was the lamb stew I made yesterday, I plan to spend the afternoon with lots of tea, a rerun of "Last of the Summer Wine" and some wrapping of birthday presents.

    JackieO

Your holidays sound lovely and you are an inspiration.

    TA

I hope you have a better night's sleep and the worries can be put to rest for a while..

    Hugs to all

They do say there is a book in everyone but if they were lucky enough to meet you they would say there is library full in you. Please think seriously about putting pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard you are a skilled writer and your adventures make fascinating reading :A

Yes I remember Blackpool like it was yesterday ....I remember us going out for a meal and everyone having to run to keep up with you. I remember you officially adopting me and us sealing the deal over a few gins with nutty Ruth :D:D We really need to arrange something else I would love to see you again :A

Laughing about the thought of Kent council having to raise tax due to additional cost for Prosecco :rotfl:

    .

Pass.... I will look into that though thanks Elona its certainly not old enough to hit the bin yet
  • Oooh bums, I am done for. A very busy day, I'd been asked to do a seminar thingy and was not pleased when the person it was really for - and had it in her electronic diary- chose to do something else and failed to let me know. Having just one person is fine but is much more difficult to keep on track and not deviate into other areas. I will repeat, as I do regularly, but it will not be at her convenience. Someone else needs the learning more immediately.

    Rant over.

JackieO if you tell me the sort of thing you might like to see in Birmingham, I can come up with some suggestions.

ScarletRibbon I have evening primrose oil.
I have had an 'interesting ' dinner possibly more accurately described as rather burnt, never mind. I'll be cooling tomorrow.
    Blimey I am cream crackered
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
