Sorry mate, but I don't think you understand. I feel the same way as you about referral links, they are evil.
However as I said (and many others have said) in this thread, the cashback site that is being recommended is NOT a "referral". They do not even support referrals, the benefit is solely for the buyer. I suggest you check the site out for yourself before accusing members of "promoting referrals".0 -

I was looking for a laptop thread not a kids playground.
Incase anyone is looking for a laptop dell's new offer for a basic laptop 1.3ghz 256ram is on the site under home inspiron for £340 which looks cheap to me.
Well how many laptop threads do you think you would find if myself and others prepared to do the research into finding these bargains decide not to post because of such behaviour?Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Just to clarify for those people who may get the wrong impression from the content of this thread.
There are many online bargain sites but not one of them could stand side by side with MSE without having to look in an upwards direction.
This is by far the best moneysaving site that I am aware of and most importantly the most liberally administered, there are few rules to infringe upon and the moderators are extremely tolerant and understanding in their administration of the site, PHONIX has been asked not to post these messaged for good reason I am sure, and seeing as how since becoming aware of this site my household income has effectively risen by a massive 30% I am more than happy to abide by and support any rulings the admin make. The fact that he has been told NOT to post is enough for me and this is one of the reasons I have asked (and he has refused) him to remove his posts.
Personally if a thread poster asked me to remove a comment from their thread they wished not to be there I can see no reason why I shouldn't.
This is a bargain forum and the bargain forum rules and the wishes of its moderators should apply!
Check out the other forums and see how this kind of behaviour is dealt with there!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
As repeated by others,he makes nothing and is just trying to help others save more, you should get off your high horse! What goes around - comes around

I have made it clear already that the content of my posts on this thread are allowed under the rules.
Martin asked that each thread does not detract into a discussion on cashbacks and I do not want to get into one.
The information about the site in question has not been posted, the information is offered if the user requests it, this is very different.
The only mistake I made in this thread was to make an extensive reply in my initial post, the other threads where I have simply said "if you want a 4% rebate from dell, request this" have not met with such complaints.
I appreciate the posting of your offers as these are done to save people money, which I admire. I'm in the same ballcourt as you, I only wish people to save money and this is why I have offered them information to do so, at no benefit to me.
I'm quite puzzeled why you'd be against information about this 4% rebate being offered when this information serves the same purpose as your thread -to get people the cheapest deal on a computer possible.
Why not offer this information in your thread to save me the hastle of posting it? The only reason I can think of why your doing this is that you have a problem with the organisation. If there's anything corrupt about it please let me know.
lastly at least ten people have asked for this information now and if they ordered the PC over £100 in total will have been saved meaning dell wiill be over £100 out of pocket, not that this is the intention but it's an interesting consequence. Where would you rather this money went?
If you could excuse me I've got some wierd chest pains tonight so I'm gonna have to go and hav e lie down.0 -
PHONIX just do us a favour and take your protest elsewhere, I care not what your arguement is, as far as I can see you just want to bleat about a site which you continue to use and benefit from why can't you have the simple courtesy to do as requested by board monitors and stop infecting threads with your inane drivellings,
Get it into your head you as are the rest of us a guest of this site and there are conditions placed on our use of it.
Once again you have turned another post into your personal rant at the site rules and the fact that they don't want to tolerate nor support your obsession with the cashback site.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Phonix wrote:I apologise if not giving this information seems a bit deceptive, but it's all explained in the private message. Dell is peculiar in that the rebate is before VAT, I beleive most other partners don't operate this way.
Deceptive or not...... the claims are VERY, VERY, misleading.
In reality... rather than a 4% (£20.16) saving on the laptop in question, as I read it, the saving on a £504.09 laptop is in fact, a mere 2.4% (£12.16)
This is a whooping 40% less than originally claimed!!!!
Never mind ............ now Phonix is aware of the facts, I assume all future posts will not be quite so inaccurate/deceptive/misleading?

this thread has rather gone off topic from the OP and is getting a little bit personal in places, so I am locking the thread until Abcon has had a look at it and made a decision.0
