I dont really understand the concept of referral links-but must admit Phonix's route is the one I chose as he/she explained it nicely unlike the other guy who was quite rude.

    Hi,

I don't understand the problem with the OP's original post either. So what if it's a referral link, if it saves me some cash then I'm all for it, if he makes something out of it as well then fine. No one has to use it if they don't want to and if they have another means of saving the 4% then by all means use that method.
Personally I'm grateful for the opportunity to save this money as I wouldn't know where else to go to get it!

    Regards

    DS
    Nice to save.

    ben500 get a life,

I was looking for a laptop thread not a kids playground.

Incase anyone is looking for a laptop dell's new offer for a basic laptop 1.3ghz 256ram is on the site under home inspiron for £340 which looks cheap to me.

Phonix's link is NOT a referral and you will get 4% discount off the price of this laptop - although the site says 4% off Dell products BEFORE VAT, and the linksite also takes a one-off payment of £5 per year from your cashbacks - but on a £600 laptop you could still save £16+ so well worth considering.

I don't think comments such as these are going to encourage people to post their finds and Ben500 has found quite a few finds.

Sorry folks I forgot to empty my inbox.

If you have complaints about my actions could you discuss this on another thread, because I'm not supposed to discuss this stuff on these bargain threads.

I apologise if not giving this information seems a bit deceptive, but it's all explained in the private message. Dell is peculiar in that the rebate is before VAT, I beleive most other partners don't operate this way.

The point being made here is that he is riding on the backs of others on the forum by hijacking posts to promote his referrals, whether it's done sneakily through pm's or publicly is of no consequence to me.

As stated previously this behaviour is rampant on mse at the moment, I posted this thread so that people may view the item and make their own decisions as whether to purchase and by what method.

I have a referral link which I could use myself if I chose to but declined to do so as I feel it is not in the spirit of the site.

In my early days as an mse member I was shocked at the amount of help and advice members were ready to give freely despite my offers of remuneration, I have made a point of retaining that ethos throughout my posts and have never solicited payment nor profit from another mse member.

Perhaps I should just delete the whole thread and let PHONIX reproduce it and he can fleece the membership at will then.
