Ebay Selling Tips *needed*

I've sold the odd piece on ebay, however I find on occassion I can offer new, untouched products for pennies and no one wants them? Why... other items of the same caetgorie sell, so why not mine?

Is it in the description? is it the postage?

I often put a £3-£5 postage charge and then send it as safe as possible regarding the weight etc of item.

I just listed new untouched shoes for 99p...and no one wanted them :(

Any tips?

The problem is with post and packing your items just look expensive compared to the high street. The USB charge for instance, assuming a buyer wins it at 99p is going to cost them £5.99..these can often be bought in the pound shop. Also your competitors are churning these out at around the £3 mark with p and p. Look at the completed listings for chargers, more than 3/4s of those go unsold at half your total cost.

Likewise shoes, any one near a Primark can buy a decent pair of shoes for a fiver and with shoes trying them off for size and comfort is a must. Basic High street/market qulaity shoes are difficult to sell due to the fact they can't be tried on and postage makes them look expensive. The only shoes worth selling on ebay are well known makes like Crocs or Timberland boots.

Unfortunately for sellers buyers are now much more picky about what they buy and with virtually everyone having access to places like the pound shop, or cheap shops like Peacocks or Primark for shoes it is getting harder and harder to sell these on even at cost.

  • The shoe listing looks fine to me.

Would second class p&p lessen the costs and maybe wrap in bubble wrap and ditch the box?

Incidentally you've spelt lipstick wrongly on your other item which means it might not show up on a search. You have also paid an extra 5p to list it by using a £1 start, a 99p start would only have been 15p.

Again I would urge you to check out completed listings, your p and p is way above other sellers and may be putting people off. One of these bags is selling at £6+ but with only £2 p and p (item number 330175030714)

Looking at complete ditems your p and p is approx 3 times what other sellers charge and some buyers get irritated by that and just won't bother bidding.

  • regarding the no.7 one...

i would have started it at .99
used a smaller font to describe items with headings in bold
also postage seems high (from a buyers point of view)
also dont put you got it 3for2 it makes the buyer think 'well you didnt pay for it why should i'
add something like costs £whatever in he shops and say you are including the samples for free
orsell samples seperate i have made lotsof money doing that!

any make up questions feel free to ask, thats wht i mainly sell
  • The font used is very large, the listing therefore requires a lot of scrolling down.

You could use more photos from different angles. Try using photobucket and upload 4 or 5 photos (if necessary) to that (photobucket) then you can generate the HTML (Don't worry photobucket will do it for you) which you then paste into your ebay listing. This will allow people to see the item in more detail, but will not cost you any more money, as you are just entering a html link and not more photos, if you see what I mean!

But sometimes, people just don't want the item you are selling!
    .....

  • dave can your listing get removed for doing that?
