Car Hire/Insurance - Canada

Had a look at MoneyMaxim.uk
Looking at Martins page in one of my wife's mags, he suggests going to moneymaxim for car hire or insurance.
Although competitive for both, and as seen elsewhere many companies will not accept outside policies and still having to pay charges etc.
Previously I've used Avis through BA and found to be reasonable, but as he says at arrival you end up paying more for extra's etc.
Looking at the various deals for pick up at Calgary and better than Avis, they require you have a Credit card which I don't have only debit.
Is this another way of getting your money

This problem comes up quite often on different forums. I don't know if rental agencies accept any other forms of deposit/guarantee. You would probably have to call them up or contact them with the question.
Are you in a position to apply for a credit card before you travel, the foreign commission free ones are best bet if you travel i.e. Halifax Clairty.
As for the extras if you book through a UK agent/portal that should include all the insurances you need to drive the vehicle away. Of course the rental company will try to sell you extras such as zero excess cover and also breakdown or loss of keys, damage to windows and tyres etc. You can pre purchase a single trip or annual cover for such items in the UK. If there is a claim then you pay the rental company and claim back through the cover you have pre purchased.0 -
Get a credit card.

Buy excess waiver cover before you travel.
If you get billed for damage, pay on the credit card, submit a claim to your insurer, repay the credit card bill from the proceeds.0 -
What extras?
If your rental doesn't include CDW and SLI/ALI, ger it here;
