EE mobile phone contract

Hi!

My EE mobile phone contract runs out in January 2019, but I'm thinking of paying it off early at a cost of £380. Is this the right thing to do? The reason I'm thinking of doing this is because I took out a contract thinking I would need a lot more data than I actually do, so it's costing me about £40 per month. I think if I paid off the contract and went Pay As You Go, I could probably just pay £10 per month. Thank you!

£380 works out at £34.54 per month over 11 months plus £10 PAYG per month = £44.54 per month, so you would effectively be £4.54 per month worse off, unless the VAT gets removed from the final bill?
  • Not sure where basic maths went. You'd obviously be paying for the contract anyway PLUS the cost a of new one.
  • I think they are simply looking at the monthly cost not the cost of paying it off even though yes I agree effectively they have paid off the contract plus an additional £10 per month for PAYG.

Agreed, any additional costs are really stupid when the lump sum payoff is virtually the same as just paying it monthly until the end of the minimum term.
