I work for a company(real cavity claims) involved in this market.
You have couple options, you can try and do this yourself, if call CIGA and they will send someone out to have a look, obviously I don't have any experience with route but if you google CIGA you can see people's reviews. They will act even if the installer has gone into liquidation.
Or you could get a 'no win, no fee' solicitor (not all solicitors will take a case where the installer has gone into liquidation) to act on your behalf, at first you will need to provide proof of the damp i.e as many pictures as possible to make an 'educated guess', along with documents to prove you own the property. They will then asses the case and if they believe it has high prospects, they will send out a qualified independent surveyor who will asses the damage and make a report, once you have approved the survey the solicitors will send a copy to the installer and go from there.
To run these cases a funding arrangement in place. This is the funding via Pure/Novitas and will be in your name leaving a soft trace on your credit report. This enables the solicitor to pay for the fees accrued such as a Survey Report, Court Issue fees and so forth. This loan will be repaid by the solicitors to Pure/Novitas should they win the case. If they lose the case they will also cover the costs.
However due to the high demand the funder has changed their criteria, the CIGA needs to be dated from 01/03/2010.
Whatever you choice to do, please don't pay money up-front, it can be done on a 'No win, no fee' basis.

This post was removed last week because it was deemed Spam. But Spamsters do not give in easily - they need publicity and leads in order to make profits. So here it is again!
To an extent I can understand and all the more so if it was genuine all round experience going into the ethos of the Spam.
However when one considers the words that I have highlighted, it is clear the poster is saying "I am clueless on what happens when consumers make ordinary, every day, claims to CIGA".
In addition, the no win no fee sharks expect 110% effort from consumers in order to minimise solicitor input and maximise profits. So copious photos and details have to be produced by the consumer to assist in this profit making. Been there, seen it, know the routine!
Of course, the consumer could go for the easy option, avoid all the photos, avoid all the hassle and just email CIGA a simple complaint comprising one or two sentences. Simple, but too simple for the legal sharks because they will not be making money out of this.
This is a sad sign of our times, with greedy no win no fee sharks dangling a carrot called "compo" in front of gullible people.0 -
Oh sorry, I wasn't told it reported as spam, I won't comment anymore.0

Civalli is a voluntary group run by people who have suffered CWI issues. They don’t charge and are not a claims company. More of a pressure group.0

Hi @rabialiones, where are you with your damp issues. I employed a well known independent surveyor who confirmed that the damp and mould is due to CWI. I then started claim with no win no fee law firm but I wasn't happy with their t & c. I work for a leading insurer and can condemn few trolls suggesting here that it was your home and your decision. No. Have you guys ever heard about PI or professional indemnity? The company who installed the CWI and their guarantors are responsible for the damages arising from poor workmanship.
Question is, what's the best option? Going direct to CIGA? No Win No Fee? or Private Case?0 -
I'm doing battle with CIGA as we speak. Please do not feel sorry for poor old CIGA. CIGA allowed cowboy companies ( here today and gone tomorrow ) to install Cavity Wall Insulation CWI . Without CIGA these cowboys wouldn't have existed . Very few ( if any ) did a survey before they installed CWI .
Years later, when you start getting black mould ( which is hazardous to health ) starts growing and your property is full of damp. CIGA ( a private profit making company and is supported by the Cavity Wall industry. Assets around £14 to 16 million, although they insist they are not for profit. ) will send out a man, who has no qualification whatsoever. He'll bring lots of meters and take many photographs. You think thank heavens, at last help. The opposite is true. All they're doing, is going out of their way, to try a prove it isn't their CWI that is causing your problem, they caused in the first place. If only, they'd done a survey first, most of these problems would not have arisen. But no, greed took over and high profits to be made, out of the unsuspecting public. Who were advices to have it installed, by the Government of the day. Well, you don't think we're called treasure Island for nothing , do you ?
Then months, maybe even years later ( as in my case ) they tell you it's your fault . It's condensation, your property has defects . Well, just may be, those defects would have been shown up on a survey before the cowboys rode in and did half a job. The industry, was even informed, properties who suffered driving wind and rain, such as coastal properties should not have had CWI installed. Don't use, no win no fee, they get paid and are bottom feeders, in for the cash, as usual. Read their ,very very small print, before you climb into bed with them.
Get good advice before you make a claim from CIGA. Obviously if you have a leaking gutter or your pointing needs sorting, then do that first. It is truly an ugly business and have bottom feeders who work in it.0 -
Hi,
Where did you get with this?
I have CWI problems and have been approached by a No Win No Fee firm but am a bit wary.
Should I proceed with them or not?0 -
i haven't proceeded in any direction as yet, never contacted ciga as have had windows replaced and ciga states that insurance becomes void if any refurbishment is carried out on property.
so, still having damp problems , dont know where to turn.
didnt proceed with no win no fee company either as negative information about themNice to save.0
