technology has moved on. i binned my blu-ray player at least 5 years ago. people stream movie these days. don't waste money on a new dvd player.

Most modern tv's support viewing media from a USB memory stick.
You could try copying the files from a DVD on to a stick if you have one (bigger than 4GB) and see if it works.

Why? Why not get a true 4K UHD player, prices from about £130 upwards.
