My spuds don't go mushy, no matter how long I cook them.
I think it's because in a SC they are cooked so slowly and they're not being bounced around in boiling water.
I sometimes put frozen peas into the stew as a 'filler'.
You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

I usually add a tin of tomatoes instead of water/stock, some mixed herbs and add an oxo cube.
As for the auto cook, I would probably use the auto cook, but it depends on the size and power of your sc.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
Don't know the size or power! Borrowed it from my Mum. I guess I'll just have to try and hope for the best! Might try potatoes then, but I will be using stock. I'm so confused!
I added tinned tomatoes to an emergency pork loin bake and it was good, but wanted to do a tradtitional stocky casserole tonight.

If you turn the base unit upside down it should be written on a plate on the bottom. it should give the capacity(in litres?) and the wattage.
Use the auto cook, in my experience, it is almost impossible to burn anything in the sc, as long as you've got some stock, and the cooker is filled enough.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
Hi there.
I have a big chunk of stewing steak in the freezer that has been there for a while. Don't really eat "comforting" stews in summer (I know that its not much of one but I like to pretend)
anyone have any ideas?0 -
How about a nice steak and onion pie? Or, cook it with some potatoes, carrots, onions and peas and use it as the filling for pasties. Lovely eaten hot or cold.
