ah ok maybe then they'll have a different link to use or reference number then. I had to do mine differently this time anyway as i'd moved and the new place i lived in dealt with it at local council rather than the county council :/
try not to worry i'm sure it will be fine when the time comes

They don't renew, you have to re-apply. Some councils say they will write to you when the time comes. My local council told me the same but they never did and i forgot to re-apply in time before my ld one ran out. I had to go without my badge while i waited for my new one. I claim Enhanced mobility PIP so automatically qualify.

  • my wife has applied a couple of weeks ago for the badge as she has arthritis and ulcerative colitis and really struggles with her walking. We asked the gp for a supporting letter but they were not willing to do one for her and said if the council write to them then they will reply to that. Do the councils write to gps before deciding?

What do u guys reckon her chances are of getting one based on her illnesses and poor mobility and if they do refuse do we get a chance to appeal this?

It depends on your local councils criteria, as they are all different. We can't tell you here of her chances of getting one. I know she'll have an assessment to see how far she can walk. Once this is done they'll decide yes, or no. I have no idea if they write to your GP. GPs very often won't write support letters for things like this. You could have sent in other evidence.

I believe you can appeal but not 100% sure.

It's not just standard mobility that people automatically qualify. It's at least 8 points in the "moving around" part.

When I originally applied, 3 years ago - on "other reasons" grounds - I was rejected - but appealed and was given an "internal" assessment - which resulted in being issued with a blue card - my GP was not even involved !!
