Renewing blue badge on-llne

Options
My vital blue badge expires in 3 months time - so I am checking how to renew it on-line
The site (https://www.gov.uk/apply-blue-badge) starts OK - It does say "apply or renew" and the select local authority also works as does the check eligibilty - but the next stage switches to NEW APPLICATION
How do I find the RENEW section ?

As a blue badge holder though renewal isn't until 2019 I’ve followed your link which is fine-think you may have to complete the required online form for a new badge.

  • It's not as straight forward as it seems I'm afraid.

You also need to send upto date award letters as well as a new photo and the fee our Council wanted an upto date original award letter in which the dwp do not send and after numerous phone calls to the council and the dwp the council decided to contacted the dwp themselves to get confirmation .

    BTW our Council was KCC.

  • Do it by post.
I tried to do it by email attaching scans of letters etc and they either could not see them or could not open them so ending up doing the application again sending photocopies by post

I emailed them - and discovered that they will send me a reminder through the post 6-8 weeks before ny existing one expires !
    So I will wait ...
  • I ended up renewing mine by paper form. I supplied the fee, photo plus a GP letter in support. I was amazed as it was turned around withing about 8 working days and through my door. Thought I would be summoned for a medical exam but no. Mine isn't given on an award of PIP/DLA but is applied to the council directly.

If you don't automatically qualify then you'll need to look at your local councils criteria, as they are all different. If one person has the badge without automatically qualifying it doesn't mean you will.
