As already advised above get a Mono Laser printer they are much better."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

OP, I have a 5 ish year old HP all in one Wi-Fi printer - costs about £20 for a full set of compatible inks from Tesco (Black plus 3 separate colours). Don't know the model number, but as others have said, if your concern is ink cost, price them up first. I've had Epsom printers previously and they are usually reasonable for compatible inks as well. We got the printer from Tesco with club card vouchers.0

I can buy two sets of ink for my Canon, delivered to my door, for about £8.50. That's 10 cartridges, as there are 5 per set. The quality of these cartridges is good and isn't washed out like most of the cheap ink is.0

I have a Canon MG5450 which has everything you said you want. It has 5 inks (large black, normal size black for photos and 3 seperate colour) I find that having seperate colours means you can change just the one that runs out. With the 3 colour carts if only one colour has run out you have to change the whole thing. The MG5450 takes compatible carts easily available on Ebay from as little as £6 a full set although I have found that the slightly more expensive carts are usually better quality ink.0

Been there many times over the years then took the plunge and bought a Samsung laser printer I wish I'd got one earlier makes a big big difference mono only.cartridge lasts for ages and replacement cost £13 patented part."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

Another vote for a mono Samsung laser printer, about £60-£70.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Always used inks at well under £1 each from eBay in my Canon MX920. Last lot were £3.45 for the set of 5.
My wife does a LOT of printing, no problems. No point paying more than a £1 per XL Cartridge IMHO0 -
If you aren't going to be using it regularly DO NOT buy an inkjet printer, buy a laser one. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Only reason to buy an inkjet printer is if you want to print Photos.
If you don't want photos then buy a laser printer, either mono or colour depending on your budget. Check the cost of replacement toner first.
I don't print much so I was wasting most of my money on cleaning the printheads with extremely expensive ink. I'd get about 5 pages per cartridge.
I managed to get a colour laser printer (they don't make anymore) and I've only replaced the toner once in about 5 years.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
