Ironically due to crossed wires this is what’s just happened with us !One-step-at-a-time said:
Thank you! Something we've done successfully in the past is drive somewhere within a couple of hours of home for the day, have an overnight bag in the car boot, go for a cuppa late afternoon and check laterooms for last minute bargains - if there's nothing available, then we have a nicer evening meal than we would otherwise have sprung for, then go home. Not sure if that's remotely viable in the current climate but it's worked very well on occasion, e.g a nice seafront place in Brighton for less than half the advance booking pricemark55man said:well done, that's great. just a little warning about the night away some prices seem to be rising quickly so best done earliest
I at very short late notice booked 2 of us into the Grand Hotel in Scarborough for £58 including evening meal and breakfast 🍳Sealed pot challenge 822

well done, that's fabulous.
Don't forget to post on the DFW roll of honour thread which I just found - very motivating, although I'm sure you can keep your nerve for £900
I think you'll just beat me over the line, but every success is so motivational
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Thank you @mark55man@Humdinger1 and @Drawingaline!
Well here we are with just under a week to go until I make the last payment! This month has been a bit of a challenge as DH tested positive for Covid shortly after I last posted. Thankfully both of us are double jabbed and he had a very mild case of it - a few days of cold symptoms, a cough which is lingering but not really troublesome, and some fatigue (he's still sleeping for longer than usual but was needing 12-16 hours a day at his worst).
There was no anniversary outing because we were in quarantine but we did get a fab curry delivered (his sense of taste wasn't affected at all).
We have hardly been out at all since the second jab in June, were masked on public transport and at an event that required a negative lateral flow test to go in, so he was just unlucky. I managed to dodge it completely.
