I have spent a shedload of money today. Or at least that's how it feels. Planned expenditure for a bunch of different reasons, some of which are supplies for things that will (hopefully) help me earn enough to pay for them at least six times over. Just over £100 and it's covered craft materials, a birthday, several small replacement household things. All budgeted other than £12 that's come from my personal spends. The thing is, it's probably the largest number of small independent purchases I've made in four and a half years, and although it wasn't mindless frittering, it still felt completely alien to be buying so much in a single day. It's official, I don't get any kind of buzz whatsoever from shopping!Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240

An exceptionally quiet month on the debt busting front. Nothing over and above standard payments (yet). However, the £50 in bonus nectar points from opening a 0% purchase card has come through! Going to hang on to those for the time being, but that's a good week's grocery shopping somewhere down the line.Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 242

Eleven days on and nothing much looks like it has changed, but it's all go behind the scenes
Extra income has gone to savings this month and by the end of the week we'll be sub £3500.

nearly there, just a few more months - then everything you earn will be yours!! We may finish our DF chase at around the same time, I've got a few more ££££ to go, but I think I'm clearing a little more each month. Will be cheering you on whatever!I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Though happily I am past the point where I even need to focus - systems are set up and are working on autopilot, the debt will be paid off on schedule (and actually WAY earlier than original estimates, I think to start with we were thinking it would be late 2022). We're most definitely not the same people we were five years ago.

New target date for DFD is 28th August. Scheduled payments plus £275 to find down the back of the sofa
Just end of month updates from now on unless anything really significant happens.

It dawned on me yesterday that I officially have more savings than CC debt. The thought that I could be debt-free already if I emptied the coffers was momentarily tantalising, but the debt is at 0% and the savings are my EF and tiny ISA, so I shall leave everything alone and keep plodding. Monday will see it down to £2275 and past the 95% paid mark; we really are in the home stretch!
It's been a very busy month - I'm submitting invoices that will clear £1k after tax and have booked a £300 job for August. That will cover the £275 I needed to find down the back of the sofa, allow us to check a couple more things off the deferred house maintenance list and pop a bit more in savings.
I think that all counts as significant enough for an update!
