I do my tax return in may/June, I save the two months I don't pay c/t to pay my NI bill. I do it then as I need to make sure hmrc update the tax credits correctly so I don't owe them money. Much easier that was instead of them taking it off next year's award.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0

I can so relate on the path of least resistance on food shopping and eating out related to MH and wondering when healthy how on earth I ended up in that position and completely over-spending. Well done for going down a different path now. Hope you have a good clear run so you can get your EF up too. I know what you mean about debt causing anxiety - but we have to find a way to celebrate it coming down too and celebrate the positive - that each £1 we pay off debt is increasing our net worth.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Spending: nothing except bus fares since my last update. No spending required over the bank holiday (got food, not going anywhere) so I'm very hopeful that my last £2.57 will make it until payday.
Planning ahead - TCB & comparison shopping in home insurance. Nothing else that's pressing on that list.
Selling - photos to add to a couple of listings
Earnings - waiting for payment on the submitted invoice and will be invoicing another job next week.
Over the next few days the plan is to continue the house decluttering and sort through our paint stash. Nothing exciting planned as it's our last quiet week for a while.Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240 -
I:m just wondering what autocorrect was playing at in my last post (which I can't edit on my phone!). The mind boggles...Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240

DH is working today so I have started my morning industriously. I've been into the attic and decluttered a bunch of old VHS tapes, a broken wooden light fitting, and about 15 cardboard boxes belonging to things we no longer own. There are a couple of things I'm not going to try to get down the loft ladder on my own (including an old vacuum cleaner which I'm fairly sure we can still shift for parts, and a really heavy old CRT TV).Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240

Well done on the decluttering - I still need to finish the main house before I can consider the loftAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks! The main house is nowhere near decluttered, I just have a fairly short attention span and my targets change regularly
I broke the house and garden to-do lists into a bunch of 'quick wins' (including the things I knew I could get to in the loft without drama) and a few 'if I have the energy' longer jobs, and ended the weekend with both house and garden being calm, clean and tidy.Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240 -
Ooh, and back to the format:
Spending: nothing to report
Planning ahead: overnight oats for breakfast and quiche/salad for lunch prepped and waiting in the fridge
Selling: 4 new auction listings with items already packaged up. Another lowball offer - I'm not even bothering to reply to them.
Earnings: no changeDebt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240 -
Long time no post - September has been brilliant yet horribly expensive due to necessary purchase of expensive equipment that broke down mid-job, and while the money will most likely be recouped over the next few months, it basically means that we're treading water where debt is concerned and are unlikely to get anywhere near close to the sub £20k by the end of the year that I had hoped for (and I certainly won't be updating my totals with any progress for a while as I can't bring myself to post a higher number!). I have yet to sit down with all my accounts and update everything; that's my Sunday morning job.
I have a quiet day at home today to start to get things straightened up at home while DH is working - we've had houseguests on and off over the last couple of weeks, and today is my first opportunity to get everything back to normal.
I'll be back to more regular posting over the next few weeks at least.Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240
