  • Two updates in a day, what am I trying to avoid doing tonight? :rotfl:

Chipping away - £10 of guaranteed sales so far and £10 from doing an errand, plus £10 in my PayPal account that I'd forgotten was there. :j Also had a question about the one pricey item I have for sale, but unfortunately that was a dead end.

The PayPal money has gone straight to the card, the £10 cash will be the week's emergency cash, and the other £10 is yet to come in (but will be via PayPal and will be sent straight to the card too). Very motivated at the moment to keep things moving.

  • Today's payments have gone in, and 50% has been reached!
Of course now I'm even more impatient to shift the rest of it. A debtbuster's work is never done! :rotfl:

  • Great start to the day - one of my listings has sold at £29 after fees. I received an offer on another item too, but it was ridiculously lowball on what was already a good price, so I'll be declining that.

Some stats: credit utilisation now down to 46.89%
Debt has dropped from approx. 160% of net income  to 80% (still  but less scary).
I'm happy that I'm stubborn - although at times it gets frustrating, paying this off is one of the most satisfying things I've ever done, and I am learning so much along the way.

  • Flying along this week -£5 Prolific cash out and a £10 cash sale this morning. Side hustle job for next week that should clear £250 after tax has been confirmed, and it's one I'm really looking forward to doing! Late start at work today so time for a nice walk first :)

  • No debt busting progress, but today I ate a frog that has been ribbit-ing quietly but persistently in the background for three years. This actually feels like a bigger achievement than paying a debt. I have managed to tie up a lot of loose ends over the last couple of years.

Congratulations on eating the frog. It always feels such an achievement when one is dealt with. Afterwards I always end up wondering why it took me so long. You're doing a great job, keep at it.

  • Morning everyone! Today I'm only working in the afternoon so it's a good time to clear my head and get organised.

Spending: pretty good! It's been *close* to a no spend week other than food essentials from the grocery budget. I have taken lunch to work every day, worked from home one day (saving £3 in bus fares), and acquired a new sports bra for the princely sum of £1.70 on the TKM final clearance rail - I have been needing one for ages as one of the two I own is on its last legs, and my patience has finally paid off. Got to do one more food shop this month.

Planning ahead: Next month is our expensive month - lots of things coming up, house insurance renewal, car tax, some essential travel which requires hotels & petrol money. Happy to say that we have the whole lot covered. DH and I also had a really good talk about budgeting last night and he's finally set up his own spreadsheet - it may have taken two and a half years, but finally we are on the same paragraph of the same page! :rotfl:

Selling: I haven't made any more concrete progress with auctions, no action other than one derisory offer, so I'm back to waiting for another £1 final fees day. This weekend is a quiet one at home and I'm writing a list of jobs that can be done in 15 minutes or less (I find it makes it easier to get things done this way) - this includes shoving a few more things on FB marketplace.

Earning: working on two side hustle jobs this week (not new ones) and chasing up a couple of outstanding payments, also starting to take a look at my website.

That's about it from me, hope you are all having a good week!

  • Hello again diary and readers.

I think I'm going to keep my updates to the categories I used in the last post.

Spending: Bit of a wobble! I've had to buy a couple of spare parts to fix something I want to sell, unfortunately one of the parts is currently only available from the US. I've forked out £22 but have a horrible feeling that there'll be a customs charge to pay.
There's been a bit more food spending but most of it has been yellow labels and everything was on the normal shopping list, so although I'm getting close to the limit of this month's food budget it's being done as frugally as I can.

Planning ahead: See above, buying the replacement bit for the thing I want to sell.

Selling: Photographed a few more bits to go online today.

Earning: The side hustle job went pretty well and I've prepared my invoice. I've decided to sort out my SA tax return when the money from this job comes in and pay my tax bill - I didn't earn much extra last year; this job should cover it in full and means that one task will get crossed off the list months early. I'm a serial end of January payer and feel like breaking the cycle :)

  • You could work out what you owe hmrc and put that amount to earn some pennies between now and January
