I noticed yesterday that most of the value stuff has vanished from tescos replaced by the 'Creamfields ' brand I have a feeling there was another supermarket that used to stock this brand, but can't remember which one yesterday was the first time in over three months that I went into tescos and probable the last for at least another three months I couldn't believe how much they have raised their prices.0

It's not a name I've recognised from anywhere else e.g. Aldi or Lidl but I wonder if it's similar to one they may have used themselves in the past?
I wonder if Tesco will ditch Clubcard in their Jack's stores? From what I've read up online employees will be paid a higher wage but won't get staff discount. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
A relative of mine knew Tesco's founder, Jack Cohen, when he started out as market trader. He said he was a cheese-pairing skinflint.
Nothing like tradition and heritage, is there?0 -
Press launch was this morning, with first store opening tomorrow. Looks like they are VERY closely following the Aldi/Lidl model with a limited range of mostly own brand products. They even have a middle aisle of randomness0

Looks good, but "Jack's" is starting so far behind L & A. They have a lot of catching up to do, as well as winning back customers who originally deserted the Big 4 for a reason.
Here's the Jack's answer to Aldi Super 6...

(No idea why a Cambridgeshire store in being reported in Bristol).0 -
Even if it were cheaper than Aldi, I wouldn't patronise this store. Tesco lost any trust I had in them, years ago - especially with its own brand products.0

Tesco's way of charging you top dollar for cheap ingredients put me off them years ago. I don't go to a large Metro store near me anymore. Only buy odd things at a local Express.
Somehow I still think the food quality will still be bad for the price point. If anything this will be the making or breaking of Jacks in the long term. We all know the quality of Aldi and Lidl food. The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!0 -
Tesco has unveiled its new discount chain called Jack's that aims to tackle the rising threat posed by German rivals Aldi and Lidl.
The first store is in a mothballed former Tesco store in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire.
Another outlet in Immingham, Lincolnshire also opens on Thursday.
Between 10 and 15 stores are planned for new locations, next to existing Tesco stores, and a small number of converted Tesco stores.

Much like the failed Sainsbury/Netto experiment this is almost certain to fail. Tesco may have more stores at their disposal than Sainsbury had, but the same issues still apply.
Any sales they make are likely to be taken from their own stores - most Aldi and Lidl customers wouldn't touch anything Tesco branded with a bargepole. Don't trust Tesco, don't trust the way they operate, don't trust their food, don't trust the quality. Why would I desert Aldi?0 -

Based on what evidence?Don't trust Tesco, don't trust the way they operate, don't trust their food, don't trust the quality. Why would I desert Aldi?
You clearly dislike Tesco for some reason. But is is worth noting that supermarkets get their own brand groceries from the same selection of suppliers. For example, when Greenyard Frozen recently recalled various frozen vegetable products due to possible Listeria contamination. it effected own brand products sold by Waitrose, Sainsburys, Tesco, Lidl, and Aldi,0
