PIP Review

My husband's PIP is up for renewal Nov 18. He has already received renewal papers and sent them off. He has now received a letter to go for a face to face assessment but when he was first awarded PIP they did not ask him to attend a f2f. Has this happened to anyone else. Hubby has COPD which is a degenerative condition and it is worse now than when he was first awarded so we are really worried as to why they want to see him. Any feedback would be most appreciated. Thanks

Was it the shortened PIP renewal form?

    this link:

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/help-with-your-claim/help-with-your-pip-review-form/

Did he tick 'no change' to everything?

Did he send up to date evidence?

It could be one of several reason.

    No up to date information
    Ticked to say 'worsened

What rates of PIP is he receiving?

They may want to reassess to see if he is entitled to a higher rate?
  • Thanks for the reply. Yes it was the shortened renewal form and yes we ticked a couple of things that had gotten worse. We sent in his latest results showing his lung age was significantly worse. He gets standard daily living component and enhanced motability so we get a car. He is 65 soon and know you Can't apply for a motability package after you are 65. Just seems strange that his condition has worsened, we have provided the evidence and they want to see him this time but when he claimed first time round there was no F2F.

A F2F most likely been arranged because of answering that a couple of things had got worse. It's possible, as has been posted above, that it's to determine if the enhanced rate of daily living should be in payment.
  • Thanks for the reply. I will post what happens after the assessment.

I've just joined and seen your letter. I am in the same position except I put no change to everything and still have to go for a face to face interview. This is the third face to face that I will have had since 2013.
I was getting DLA high mobility and middle rate care which went down to standard care only in PIP. Then it went down to nothing for the second test but on reconsidering it went up to enhanced for both. I fully expect based on this experience to get nothing again next week. I don't have any usable legs which is only one of many problems I face.
I am told that it is likely that you will have a face to face on every renewal. I get three years each time reduced to two. I hope you have some success but best I think if you hope for the best and plan for the worst Good Luck

It would have been better to have started your own thread, this thread is more than 1 year old. Asking questions on other peoples threads causes confusion because they read the first post and answer that.

    When does your award end?

Reviews can take place up to 1 year before the award is due to end and you should have received a form to fill in and return with all your evidence. Did you receive this?

They can review you at anytime but i've never known them do this without filling out a form first.

I'd advise you to ring the number on the letter on Monday morning and ask why because you haven't filled out a form.
