"Horses for courses", I still have my MOTO 2 small phone for emergency whatever- decent phone for that sort of purpose priced at the time of £70 I believe...Indeed, my Sony Xperia Compact has a 4.5" screen, which I find more than adequate. We don't all want to carry a portable TV around in our pockets!
Screen size requirement apart, talking about value for money and specs makes sense to buy what is needed, not that is something that is not needed, IE Samsung CPU powered phone, but nothing else to justify triple (or at least double) the price of alternatives.
These days all (most) are running android, all (most) support PlayStore, ALL are made to the same quality standards'ISH, so why would/should anyone pay silly money for a brand name double the price for actual hardware provided? ...
on the top of that, all (most) will be in some sort of a cover/protector case- nobody is going to even see/show that brand label...:D0
