Excellent week-end EBay totals and another £1000 off the mortgage. Fingers crossed I will get paid three months salary on or around 1 April that will be at least £11k all of which can go off the mortgage.0

Mortgage is going well, the same can't be said for my food budget! I haven't spent as much as usual but I am way over budget. Both freezers are still full and I am fatally drawn to Waitrose. Going in for a couple of pints of milk seems to be a £50 spend.0

Expensive milk then:eek::eek:
It is the terrible proximity of the milk shelf to the reductions shelf - I've got no self control.
I can only make such payments because of my pension, contract work and rental income. After years of struggling it is really paying off now and will for at least another 12 months. I can live pretty frugally and all the income streams go off the mortgage.
I am definitely moving to a smaller house, smaller garden, lower ceilings but where I am moving to is much more expensive than here so I need to get the mortgage paid off and then save about £100k. I have been looking and this house will sell for about £300k the ones I am looking at are £450k ish.
The quicker the mortgage goes then I can begin saving, very likely I will move and have another mortgage to attack.0 -

Spending now to save going forward? - seems sensible to me!:)

I am trying to eat 5 meals a week from the freezers as I do need to get plenty of space in there ready for the soft fruit season, and as I can see green shoots on the raspberries beginning to pick them can only be three months away. Stewed mixed fruit of raspberries, white currants and strawberries gets eaten every day here and I haven't got to the end of last years frozen fruit yet.
I heard yesterday that I will definitely be paid on 1 April which is a big relief I was pretty sure it would be OK but I now can see the money in the business account - phew!
On the other hand not being paid from a contract for 12 weeks has made me budget very stringently and it will give me a big pay off which is important this year. I am aiming to halve my remaining mortgage by the end of April - a combination of big contract payment, 6 months rent from my 2nd tenant plus my usual extra £1k somehow.0 -
Yesterday I was asked to invoice for my contract role for January and February to be paid this financial year, the money should be in my bank on Tuesday - very good news. I will be making a £7.5k payment as soon as the BACS transfer goes through. I will also invoice for March next Friday - things are really moving fast now. I am very focussed on the mortgage being gone, good for making me EBay and avoid shops! It is interesting as I have always been a spender but not this time. I really want to be ALL debt free - even if it is only for a short time.0

In case anyone is wondering I am not going to save for tax yet, I expect to have paid my mortgage by end August then save like billyo for my tax bill. This is high risk but it suits how I feel now, if it goes wrong I will borrow back from the mortgage to pay my tax - but I don't think it will go wrong.0
