Unfortunately you are asking a meaningless question to which there is no answer. Your question is akin to saying we liked the look of the Austin Allegro but it is no longer made - what is a quality alternative?

You should be drawing up a Specification of the quality you require linked to your budget then seeing what can be achieved for the money.

Further your Odina probably excluded all appliances, excluded the sinks, taps and wastes, excluded the worktops ... so you then have to ask what was it? Having defined that then you can start searching.

I've heard some positive feedback regarding home base kitchens I've recently looked at the gloss cabinets but I've been advised to try Howden s don't know if you have one local
  • Have a howdens at the end of my road and I am tempted for the convenience :)
  • We have a Crown imperial high gloss kitchen. As the gloss doors are acrylic not wrapped vinyl they look amazing

You laugh but do not answer my reply. Your thread says you are looking for a quality kitchen, yet your search has been at Homebase. Quality kitchens are not at Homebase, and you have been sucked into the concept that because Odina is German and you are getting a quality product.

    Dear Mark300zx

Homebase stopped selling their Odina kitchen range a year or so ago. It was when Homebase was bought by Bunnings and the Odina range didn!!!8217;t fit their business model, or some reason like that evidently.

Odina was a brand exclusively supplied by Homebase and made by Nobilia who are a German kitchen manufacturer and Nobilia is the largest kitchen manufacturer in Europe. They produce around 3,600 Kitchens every day!

I personally think quality can only be determined by value for money. The Odina range of Kitchens can be used (or could have been) as a good example of this. When Homebase sold Odina it was generally far more expensive for a retail customer to buy from them rather than from an independent kitchen specialist. This was Homebase!!!8217;s pricing policy. Where as generally from an independent a Nobilia kitchen can be purchased for a price that is often competitive to the likes Howdens and Benchmarks. In my opinion a Nobilia kitchen is far more advanced in terms of build quality and design than any trade type kitchen manufactured in the UK.

You say you would like a quality kitchen which I assume means you have looked at the general offerings from the DIY stores and not been impressed. So I would suggest you look at 2 or 3 independents near you and hopefully you should find better quality kitchens, better design ideas and ultimately good service and advice.

    Good luck with your search.

  • Nobilia supply quite a few companies... Out of the "Howdens" versus "Benchmarx" I've fitted 4 or 5 Benchmarx kitchens and they've all been brilliant quality. My one problem with Howdens is the cheap iron-on edging they use on the doors which shows the bobble of the chipboard. We had a few minor problems with the Astrocast worksurface, but once polished, it was absolutely fine. It all depends on your fitter too. Maybe Howdens have improved their ranges. And, yes, look at independents as an option.
