Standalone ins in Florida

I’m looking for advice on car hire for a month in Florida. My brain is fried after reading so much
I wondered if anyone had used the “standalone” insurance rather than the pricey extras that are recommended by the US car hire companies.
We fly into MCO and wondered if there were companies nearby who offer competitive rates to the airport.
Anyone that has experience/ advise would be greatfully listened to. I am thoroughly confused.

If you hire via a UK portal, compulsory insurances are included, except for the likes of TUI/Virgin/Thomas Cook.
If you hire via a US portal, you'll need your own insurance.
