Have you thought of making your own pizzas XSpender? Not sure if you have the wherewithal, but they're easy to do and you can use all manner of ingredients as topping, as long as your family isn't too conservative!

I haven't made home made pizza for a long time but was planning a build-your-own-pizza-night for one of the Saturday's of the challenge. I only have GF flour though and I am the only coeliac in the house. I am sure I have made them GF before for DH.

DS and I both love pineapple on our pizzas and I like caramelised onion chutney on mine too :o
Those beans sound tasty XSpender! A rather lower calorie version than mine, which is to mix in BBQ sauce and top with cheese.

I haven't made any progress on food cupboards today and have actually shopped for more ingredients. Please don't banish me from the thread! :o

I have added milk and apples to my mountain today and DS and DH have had KFC as promised.:o I did a fake GF one for me with bits from the freezer.

I've defrosted the pack of turkey mince and 10 sausages for cooking tomorrow. I do need to keep in mind what a previous poster said about using up something each week that I have to think about using or I will eat all the easy nice stuff and leave the weird stuff and be no further forward.

I am posting this link here so I don't lose it.

I may have found a recipe that uses up all the weird and wonderful 'flour' and starch ingredients I have. Arrowroot can be substituted for tapioca and I have everything else but powdered milk. You even make it in the bread maker or by hand to make rolls.

If it asks for 360ml water and 4 tbsps. of milk powder could I use milk or milk and water? I don't have dried milk but I could pick some up with my work dinner allowance next week.

Yes as long as you don't go over the total liquid in the original recipe milk (or milk & water) should be fine:)

  • Today we used up 5 chicken breadsteaks (we have quiet a few of these) a part bag of wedges and a part bag of fries. Also emptied 3 of the ice cream tubs that all just had a few scoops left.

We are having sausage and mash tomorrow. So will use up a bag of sausages and a bag of veg.

The freezer is emptying quiet quickly, i've still not got round to the cupboards.

I've found a very effective way to empty cupboards - I've just had one fall off the wall!

Thankfully it was only plastic boxes and no one got hurt. I have a feeling a savings pot for a new kitchen may be in order.

I'm not recommending it as a way of making space in the kitchen but it's quick. :rotfl:

We're all fine thanks! Could have been a lot worse but doesn't help me get the kitchen looking half way decent!

Glad no one was hurt Cherry. That must have been a real shock! I started a savings pot for a new kitchen and bathroom about 18 months ago - still a long way to go though before there is enough for either.

I've cleared out a few things from the freezer & cupboards today. I'm making a sausage & bacon cassoulet in the slow cooker.

    From freezer: sausages, bacon, spinach.
From cupboard: tin cannellini beans; tin mixed beans; tin tomatoes
Fresh veg: onions, garlic, stockpot, celery (which was on it's last legs!), carrots, mushrooms.

The mushrooms and spinach won't go in until about an hour or so before it's cooked.

Freezer is still fairly full but slowly emptying it. However, quite often more ends up in there because I nearly always make 4 portions of everything and there are only the 2 of us so quite often the other 2 portions get frozen for later.
