Kia Sportage 2010-2015 no power/engine fault on collection.
Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice to see where I stand and what my options (and recommended options are) on Thursday this week I part exchanged my previous car with a main dealer and contributed the difference as a debit card payment.
The used car I purchased has 3 years warranty on it from the dealer.
Shortly after driving from the forecourt I realised there was a fault with the car not having enough power and being able to exceed 3,000 revs in any gear - I called the dealer who asked me to come back in straight away after test driving it with me in the car they agreed there was a fault and to wait while they look - they'd seemingly fixed it by switching out a faulty component - I tested it afterwards and it was fine for the rest of the day and yesterday, driving today however the problem has come back.
I called the dealer who told me the service team aren't available until 8AM Monday, which is fair enough, and to ring and see if they can fit me in for it to be looked at.
I believe I have 30 days to reject a faulty used vehicle for a refund on the invoice price - but how patient would you be in this situation given that I really do like the car, and how can I make sure to protect myself so I'm not stuck with a lemon?
I appreciate any advice and if anyone can shed any light on my options - I haven't mentioned vehicle brands or names deliberately but if more detail is needed just let me know.
07/04/2018 - Just a note to say everything was sorted the day I took it back to the dealers, it was a faulty fuel filter housing (apparently a known issue on the Kia Sportage 2010-2015, i've been running for a couple of months now with no issues and very happy with the vehicle)

They'll start with the cheapest easiest option hoping that fixes it.
With 3 years warranty they will want to get it right, otherwise you'll be back every other day. It's up to you but I reckon they'll soon realise they may need to spend some money and get it right.0 -
chances are its the basic warrenty and the rest (2.5 yrs) is with an external company that will deny all repairs due to wair n tair etcSave a Rachael

It's a transferable manufacturer warranty so I'm not too worried about that, I'm more interested in if any parts are found to be faulty that aren't consumable where I stand? For example if the fuel filter needed replacing, but it needed replacing when I bought it - do I have to stand that cost? Surely it wouldn't have been fit for purpose at the time and it's the responsibility of the dealer to foot the bill?Debt free journey (Started Feb 2018)

No you won't have to pay. The car should have been fit for purpose not be faulty coming off the forecourt. They are highly unlikely to try either0

They probably just reset the computer, it ran OK for a while, and now its gone back into 'limp' mode due to the fault; whatever that is. Watch out for them timewasting and doing resets until you are past the point at which you can reject.0

Thanks Ed - I didn't think of that but I'll certainly be more cautious about it - I hope it's not true because it's quite a reputable dealership and I've only heard good things.
My understanding is that since I reported the fault on the same day the 30 days don't start until they actually fix this issue - I'm not sure if having 1 trouble free day in the middle affects this? It's the exact same issue now as it had when I first picked it up.Debt free journey (Started Feb 2018)
