Purple pens!

God I hate teachers!
Sons school have now decided that pupils have to use purple ball-points in class, they don't supply. Has anybody tried buying one from normal shops/supermarkets that they use?
Been to Morrisons, Asda & Tesco in last 2 days for various items, blue, black, red & even green pens. - Purple - no chance.

What absolute nonsense. I can't imagine why parents would agree to this. If the parents said NO what would the school do? Suspend the children? Fine the parents? Ridiculous - just say you haven't got the time or the will to comply with the new requirement and let them get on with it.

I'm curious - are these for written work or for peer marking?

Just got full story, it's apparently only for corrections, amendments & re-work. Not for normal use.

Still an awkward colour to request, I'm red/green colour blind to some extent and I'm not sure that I would know whether he'd wrote in blue or purple anyway.

    From 2014!

I did a bit of teaching in Primary Schools around 2013 and we were still stuck on Green pens :rotfl:

I once got shouted at by my course tutor for daring to use Red to mark a piece of student work! MASSIVE mistake! :D

This takes me back to my teacher training days back in the 70s when I handwrote an essay using a purple pen. My English tutor wrote on the bottom 'You know what they say about purple ink!!' I never did find out but hoped it wasn't a secret signal like pampas grass.
