Matching processor with memory

Options
In the local Sheffield Forums you occasionally see used RAM for sale at knock down prices or should I say they would probably take a lower offer.

Just curious, according to this

The Belarc details (below) of a spare computer I have will take 16gb DDR3 memory, which for a 1.8gh processor appears to be overkill to me.
How much would be the best match for the processor fitted.

8 GB are probably fine for a run of the mill PC like that.

Looks like you have one 4GB module and an empty slot, so probably worth buying a near identical 4GB module for the other slot. (example on Amazon for under £30)
A utility like Speccy would give you the detailed specs of your installed RAM.

The only reason, on a modest PC like that, to install the 16GB max, would be if you were going to run a lot of virtual machines, or something like that.

The amount of memory you put in has more to do with what you do than the processor speed. The processor speed is irrelevant in this matter. As emptybox has said, for normal use 8GB would do.
