I agree with you MF - I may have a word with him about adding late fees to invoices. I think once he's properly established he would like to charge 50% upfront to get around this problem - but he's still growing his business currently.
I think they are due to be the love2 type vouchers - I did ask whether Am**** was a possibility but I think they like to make it so that there's a wide range of shops that will accept them and also go with the one with the biggest discount on the voucher price - to offset the tax and NI they pay on them for us. I've said I will loan DD the £ to buy an ipad in Jan sales - if she gets it from one of the voucher stores. She's saved £300 herself, is due to get some money from various relatives for xmas - and then I'll loan her the vouchers which will help - and then a little cash on top. Once she's got her ipad she is planning to sell her laptop to pay the balance. Absolutely worst case - she could pay me back from CT fund on her 18th later next year.
Boss is off most of next week. Spoke to her about finishing even earlier and she was fine with it. I'll write myself a list of priorities - including my job description and the finish early for xmas. DH finishes Monday night. DD still has exams this week. School are going to buy her some ear defenders that she can use in her exams as she finds it a struggle and she is finally mature enough to take the help.
Still loving our new patio - but it has been too wet for the workmen to come back to do the final mortar yet. I took pooch out for a walk around the block and was dripping by the time I came back. DH came and helped me dry her off.
I have one CC payment left to go out before payday - probably Friday-ish for around £125.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Another common option for DS is to offer a prompt payment discount.
e.g. if payment received by the end of the month deduct 10%, after that it's "full" price.
Obviously the 10% deduction price is what he'd normally charge.
Glad to see all the hard work you've all put in to the house and garden paying off.If it's not adding up, compound it!4 -

Could DS start with 10%, then increase it each year as he establishes.
The discount idea by Grogged is a very good suggestion.
DD has done well to save that much. She has grown into a little adult this year and to accept help proves it.

Eek! The cleaner. Hope (s)he is ok. But that is close to home!! How long will they be in isolation? Will they make the next predicted time or is that it until the new year? Not a good time to not have a clean house! What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Thanks CMD and Tahlullah. Really looking forward to break but finished early today as just so tired. Cleaner's son's BF has C19... so in isolation and one of her kids has a cold... She offered to come walk the dog - erm no thanks. LOL. Poor DS can see £ is on the way from one client but it hasn't arrived. The second hasn't paid so he will remind them tomorrow. I'd best transfer my own £ then. I got sent a big pack of pension info today - after making the £50 payment the other week. It didn't help. Just confused. Oh well. I am hoping to make another token payment to pension.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Today's been okay. Had to move £ around because car fuel was showing empty. Thanks partly to the windfall the £ was there. DS is still waiting for his money. Companies really don't think about how hard cashflow is for freelancers or they'd be kinder - either that or they are struggling themselves. Feel for him but trying to clear our own debt. Four more working days before I finish for Xmas. Can't wait. Hope to do a bit more xmas decorating over the weekend - with stuff we already have. Get paid next Tuesday. Due to get vouchers from work but they are still organising delivery so unsure when we'll get them in practice.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Really unhappy. N'w1d3 decided to make me put my pin in for my card to transfer to my main bank account (another bank). I don't know where the card is and I don't know my pin. I only have one payee set up - me!!! So am as frustrated as anything! They are also all closed for the evening so nothing I can do. That's where all my £ is sat!!! I could scream.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
