Doesn't apply to me, but I couldn't enjoy a holiday if I took my mobile phone with me.

I know people who switch off their phone while on hol after sending the obligatory 'I/we have arrived safely' text/call. Then phone goes off and stays in the safe until it's time to head to the airport home again.

I just could not do this. My phone is also my camera (I travel solo now) and entertainment. I download movies, music & books on my phone before going away though to be honest most of those don't get watched/read.
  • you soon get accustomed and forget the new shiny a, B, or c you purchased, but the memory of the Leopard stalking the Oribi at night will stay in your memories forever.

Only regretted one holiday - when I was 15 with my friend and her parents. She kept stealing my stuff and money! Wasn't friends with her after that holiday. we were also in a caravan, so no personal space either.

But as an adult I've never regretted any holiday. I have done various types from getting drunk and beach holidays to city breaks and I'm about to have a 'motorsport' holiday in Florida soon.

I aim to go away at least once a year, whether it's 2 nights, 7 or 14 nights. I always try and get the best deals! and I tend to have lots of free hotels.com nights because of booking hotels for work!

To me travel and holidays are two different experiences, a holiday being where you relax and every need is catered for and you come home refreshed, and travel where you involved yourselves in the culture and traditions the trips that you feel you need a holiday when you return.
I love to travel but holidays have to be a short affair for me. I have no issue popping to Spain or Portugal for a long weekend any longer and I start climbing the walls, just start thinking about the jobs I have to do at home.
So my only holiday regret was a trip to Mauritius despite hiring a car and exploring the island two weeks was way too long.

i would not want to holiday without a phone as mapping is probably the thing i need the most - things like tram and metro routes would be difficult if i just had to rely on signs at tram stops

Well back in September 2012 I regretted the fact I went away as when I came home a family member was very sick and I was angry with myself for having a holiday (I was doing long hours all through that year - 48 hours plus a week). I had to let it go (excuse the frozen reference) and forgive myself as I needed that break.

I do enjoy holidays again and 3 years later I went back to the destination I had previously enjoyed although was strange going back and glad I did.

These days I go twice a year. I don't do flop and drop holidays though as normally go to Ireland, Scotland and hoping to go to Holland next year as always wanted to go.

Used to day trip to France 3/4 times a year and never regretted those even the force 9 crossing in December lol
