That was what the doctor called it, it was sudden onset, I did feel rubbish, i did struggle, but I'm used to that - (sometimes my insomnia keeps me up all night and I still do a day at work)
And you do see people with flu moving around. It affects different people differently
And maybe it was lessoned somewhat by me paying for the jab beforeThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

What gives you the right to spread your sickness? Others may have serious health problems (and you may not be aware of them). It is irresponsible to work with conditions such as norovirus.0

An employer has a duty of care towards his/her employees (not their families).
You keep saying the same thing, but that doesn't change the position:
1: it is selfish (even if your intentions are to support your family)
2: it is dangerous, and frankly negligent.
3: I would be looking to dismiss, I think many others would too.
Can you clarify what is the school position you mentioned earlier?0 -

If an employer concludes that they cannot keep an employee because they have ungoing health issues that impacts productivity to the point whereby it is not economically viable to keep them, then that is not a disciplinary, thats a business decision.
These are businesses we're talking about, not charities.0 -
I realise that occasionally some people find it hard to understand the complexity of the employment relationship. Employers pay people wages to work. If they are not working, then they are being paid to produce nothing. Produce enough nothing, and an employer will question whether you are a worthwhile investment for them. That's not a punishment. It's reality. If you were the employer, you would do exactly the same thing.
If your are so prone to serious infections as you suggest, I'd strongly advise discussing it with your GP. That is a lot of infections to have in a short space of time, and there may be an underlying condition impacting on your immune system.

At the moment I'm on steroids that can keep it under control for up to 2 years before risking organ damage
Motorguy- if you're let go for something you can't control, doors close for you, like a lesser form of disability, you can lose pay and terms and career through no fault - it's being treated similar to someone who did wrong
Yes, that doesnt make it wrong from an employers perspective though - they are running a business not a charity.0 -

I had the Norovirus.
There was no way I was doing my work unless my work involved me sitting on the loo with my head in the sink...0
