Combine my Avios is not spending or earning. Spending a tesco clubcard voucher on Avios is a spend that will count. So if you last did this in 2016 you would be fine.

Could it be that you used the clubcard vouchers to add Avios to an avios.com account and then combined them (ie moved them over) to a BA exec account? That would explain things.

I don't know why you would do that, as there is nothing to be gained by going via Avios.com to your BA exec account.

Combining Avios does not count as activity, must add from an external source such as Tesco.s

Have you actually spoken to BAEC? It's surely worth a phone call to them, as others have pointed out, they've operated by the terms of the scheme.

However, they may well offer a solution, as the above poster has demonstrated.

So I wrote a very nice letter to them and asked them very nicely to reinstate them. They emailed me and have reinstated them and I must earn or spend within 3 months. Can't say fairer than that.

    Well played BA.

As I've got a household account I just need to find out the cheapest/easiest way for both my wife and I to earn some more each in the next 3 months.
  • Make sure you do. You can use their portal Gate 365 for online shopping or convert Tesco points and that will restart your clock. Use something like Award Wallet to keep tabs on expiry dates or put a note in your diary if you don't use them.

If you haven't already looked into Amex cards, you can get rewards for joining and spending and if you use the BA Amex Plat Plus and spend 10k a year, you get a 2-4-1 voucher which doubles the value of your Avios. For 200k on a 2-4-1 you would be able to search for a decent F peak redemption.

So if we both purchase something individualy through the https://www.shopping.ba.com website (like £1 (2 Avios) from Tesco Direct) this will both count and be enough to keep the points for another 3 years?
