Free Family Days Out?!

Hi There,
Apologies if this has been covered before in the forum! I don't earn an awful lot of money and I want to take my kid out (6 years old) for the day this weekend that isn't reliant on being outdoors in case the weather is bad at this time of year and is cheap or free? I like to take a packed lunch and I can drive. I exhaust the park, the woods, visiting our local historic towns (Morton in Marsh and Stow on the Wold are pretty close).
Savvy tips are welcomed!
