Hi SSG, diaryland is a very nice place to spend lots of time :).

Winter list will be reduced as I never do everything on it but it gives me a focus to start.

Yesterday's plan was to weed the garden which I hoped would be the last time until after winter however it rained all day so that is now today's plan. I hate the thought of it but once it is done I will be happy.

I sat up late reading which was silly as I'm tired now and will feel 'off' all day but you live and learn.

This week I have lunch out with an ex colleague tomorrow which feels like an obligation I can't get out of. On Thursday I'm going to a carvery with volunteer people which is free :D. Sat I have a beauticians appointment and then I'm back to work.

Free food always gets my attention! We keep looking at our garden and saying it needs a tidy up before winter, but it's been so wet here that we can't cut the grass :o

    Morning

Well Storm Ali hit yesterday and took down a surprising number of trees in our area. The power went off yesterday morning at 10.15 and wasn't on when we went to bed at 10 last night however it is on this morning. My Uncle has a tree down on his lane and it brought down the electric pole and phone line so he is still waiting for it to be fixed. Have to thank the NIE people being out all hours yesterday and in those conditions to fix the downed lines.

I met a friend for lunch and he paid. I was going to cancel as it was far too windy to be out on the roads if you didn't need to be but he said it wasn't that bad... I laughed at him as he was diverted 3 times and I got there with no diversions. He should have listened to me.

I took money out of the Emergency fund to pay for the heating oil as it was just sitting on my credit card and my annual bill fund didn't quite cover it.

I was thinking about going for a run today but the forest will be a bit dangerous until the forest service checks it. Pup and I will go for a gentle walk instead.
  • Wow! You've really had bad winds over there haven't you Munchin? We've got off very lightly considering. Was quite windy last night but nothing like what you've experienced.

I hope it all dies down and you get out for a run with your pup at the weekend.

Hi SSG - the storm was pretty bad and an avenue near us had 5 trees down and the elderly couple who live there couldn’t get out but once the storm died down their neighbours (including my family) were out cutting the trees. Proper community spirit :).

Money front - in the spirit of honesty I’m probably going to be racking up debt again but to temper it I’m going to ....again... do a spending fast.... or just to stop fr
ittering:o. My Mum is struggling with getting in and out of bath to shower (no freestanding shower)and my cousin said he would put her in a proper electric shower but couldn’t do the electrics. I spoke to family and I think it’s time to do up the bathroom anyway. It’s tiny and I secretly hope that would reflect the price but I know that means nothing. Am going to get 3 quotes and see where I go from there. I hate that these things always seem to appear and I never have enough saved up or if I do I don’t want to lose my savings. I can’t ask Mum to wait until I’ve got enough saved up.

I was looking for MSE inspiration and read Hypno diary and found her theme for 1 of her diaries "Just for Today....." In Reiki, they follow 5 principles

    1. Just for today, I will not be angry.
    2. Just for today, I will not worry.
    3. Just for today, I will be grateful.
    4. Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
    5. Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.

So it is all about taking one day at a time, so Just for today, I will -
    - eat healthier
    - try not to spend any money
    - and attempt to follow the above.

Sorry bit of a ramble today.

I have a grand total of £60 to last me to payday (Thurs). I know that sounds like a good enough sum BUT out of that I have to get diesel and pay £20 to yoga for the next 3 sessions. I'm going out to lunch with work colleague on Wed but that is a 'catch up and keep me sane lunch'. Also puppy has started coughing seriously this morning.. he has a funny cough when he gets really excited but this is getting worse so I rang the vets and they can see him this afternoon. I'm not sure if my pet plan covers today's visit...probably not but I would rather be safe than sorry.

This week I'm back to work tomorrow. I have 3 volunteer things to attend and 1 set of minutes. I have yoga tomorrow and then it will be quiet on Thurs. I've looked at YNAB budget for Oct and I have £400 to spend on everything for the month but if I can keep it below that I will be delighted.

  • Lovely, thoughtful idea to do up your mum's bathroom especially as she's having so much difficulty. Will your family chip in with the cost? Hope there's nothing too wrong with pup as well.

    Have a good week Munchin.

Hi SSG - family are great with offering help and support but cash is another thing.. unfortunately most of them probably couldn't afford to chip in and I wouldn't ask for that reason.

So I've been to the vet and pup had a thermometer put in a delicate place...…:o The vet could hear something in his lungs and has given him a weeks course of anti inflammatory meds. All in it cost £4.99 which wasn't bad ( a lot less than I had thought) and he's to go back next week.

I also popped into a bathroom showroom just for an idea and the salesman was saying that if they got the contract the earliest they could start is January. I will check out 2 more places but at least I have 3 months to add more money to the pot. So the money mindful head will have to be screwed on.

Today I've also made a batch of meatballs and leaks which should also cover lunch tomorrow.

    Weekly spends - w/c 23rd Sept
