I think it's time.

I've been working PT for just over 5 years.

5 Years of stress, bullying and down right ignorance of my disability.

I have MS OA, several problems linked to both illnesses.

I want to quit, Ill health, sign on ESA for a while, I've been so ill the past few months with the seasonal sicknesses, that my own body has turned on my and my Uveitis is back.

Son home from work with Flu (real one not man flu) so keeping out of each others way, washing of hands and general being careful.

Will I be able to claim ESA?
I am married and husband works, I want to claim in my own right. He can't support the both of us.

You will need to check first to see if your eligible for SSP. If you're not then claiming ESA will depend on how much Natinal Insurance you've paid in the last 2 tax years. As you have a partner that works full time you won't be eligible for any income related benefits.

Yes there's contributions based ESA, which is payable if you've paid enough National Insurance in the past 2 years. To make a claim for ESA if you've paid enough then you'll need the SSP1 form from your employer. Contributions based ESA is paid for 365 days unless you're placed into the Support Group.

For ESA you will also need fit notes from your GP while on the assessment phase.

You can check here, by making an account first.

Also just to add that I want to leave work, not wait until SSP is finished (should be a matter of days still awaiting confirmation letter but i might have to ask again for that)

If i hand in my notice i have to work a further 4 weeks

There's also PIP but this depends on how your conditions affect you daily. It's not means tested. Have a look at this..

There's also a PIP self test that you can complete online. It doesn't mean you'll score those points but it'll give you some idea. Evidence would be needed if you were to start a claim off.

SSP is payable for 28 weeks, once this has finished you can claim ESA depending on your NI contributions, as i stated. You can't claim both SSP and ESA.

If you have paid the NI contributions then you can start the ESA claim off up to 3 months before your SSP runs out. They won't pay you until it's run out though.
