Mobile 4G WiFi router abroad - help please

Hi

I hope this is not a dumb question

I wonder if anyone knows if this device will do what I expect and if my plan is viable:

We are going on holiday this year to Finland and to Switzerland. In the next few years we intend traveling to other countries including Canada, the USA, possibly Australia or New Zealand and a number of European countires, particularly Germany and the Netherlands and we wish to use our mobiles for data while there. Often the places we stay in either have no WiFi or charge for it or it is slow.

What I intend doing is buying the above device and then upon arrival in the country buying from a supermarket a 4G SIM card with a data allowance and then connecting our phones and laptops to this via WiFi.

I am on the Three network at present and have used the Feel At Home facility but when I used the phone as a WiFi router and connected the Laptop to it it would not allow me to use streaming services such as Netflix.

So the above device/plan should hopefully get round this limitation (as long as there is a 4G signal).

I could of course just put the local SIM card in my unlocked phone but then I would not have my usual phone number.

Is this likely to work in the way I expect it to?
Is the above device suitable?
Will I have to buy special data only SIMs? If so are they widely available?

If you have read this far then thank you very much. I hope I have explained things properly.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thank you

Local SIM availability varies by country. For frequent travel the best solution is a dual-SIM phone, using the second slot for a local SIM.

Have a look at Three PAYG Data Sim's. There are some restrictions but you can use them abroad in a mifi at standard rates.
