Good afternoon chums ,well its been a very busy day today I spent the morning making 7 dozen sausage rolls for the wake tomorrow
We will be saying our goodbyes to our 'fighting' Frank who sadly lost his fight in the end, tomorrow afternoon.
I also had to nip to the Drs. surgery quickly as the batteries I had been given at the hospital for my hearing aid were the wrong size grrr .I spent ages trying to see what was wrong as the new batteries just were not working then. I thought Hmm, they are really not thick enough to fire up the contact point.
I popped into our Healthy Living centre and the receptionist had a look and agreed I had been given the wrong size.
She changed them for me, and I now have 4 packets of five batteries which should last me for ages.
Spekey we do take our quiz very seriously, and have been going for almost four years every week. We also go to charity quizzes, and have one at the end of February and one in Chatham in March which is a big one set up by the Kent Messenger group of newspapers.
I have seven bottles in the communal stash at the moment and we should get a share out by the summer
Best part is I don't drink wine very often as I drive daily, and I won't open a bottle just for myself so I usually end up giving as a raffle prize or to friends
I have about 9 bottles in my cupboard under the stairs at the moment from my shareoutsbut often I will give the chap who cuts my grass, and weeds the garden a bottle as I know his wife likes a tipple now and again.
One of my friends last night gave me a pattern to make some Christmas Bells for decorations to be sold at the Dickens Festival in this December
She is a trustee of a charity called 'Making Miracles' and its a baby berevement and councelling charity that's local to the Medway .
I made 12 baby blankets last year for her which sold very wells I said I'd have a go at the weekend and I have to time it to see how long it takes to make and sew one together.:)
In September there will be a 'Big Knit' at Rochester Cathedral as there was last year, and we drum up folk to come along and have a go at knitting squares for baby blankets and this year they can have a go at knitting some decorations as well.Last year we had 130 odd ladies from all over Kent turn up and have a go and it really was a great event .She thought she would nab me before the Poppy people did as I knit for the British Legion poppy appealas wellPlus I alsoknit for the Linus Trust as well. I don't mind as I enjoy knitting and its something you can do while watching Tv or listening to the wireless. You know the old adage ,if you want something done ,ask a busy woman
I used to make Barbie clothes and dolls stuff for my two granddaughters when they were small, but now they are grown up, and one is married and her baby is due in March,so I guess I will be knitting dolly clothes for my new Gt Granddaughter eventually.
My granddaughter had a scan this morning and the little baby girl is over five pounds and she still has another 7 weeks to go before her due date !!!
Right time to get a wriggle on and prep DDs veg for her dinner tonight ,my son-in-law is due home just after five so the veg will all be done by then and I can toddle off home.
It wil be a sad day tomorrow, but we will do our best to celebrate a lovely man who lived for the family and his footie team.bless him
Take care chums and keep warm and dry if you can

Evening all - Dixon style!
Jackie - I hope all goes well tomorrow.
The weather was so changeable, one moment bright sunshine and the next terrible hailstorms. Just weird.
I enjoyed my trip to Oban, not sure about the group though. My meeting with a member of my staff was so bizarre I brought it to a very swift end. No focus, tons of bits of paper being dragged out, none of which had any relation to anything and eventually she was arguing with me whilst I was agreeing with her! It was like talking to shifting sands. I'll try again with her next week.
Since coming home I've been struggling to put together information which is not easily available. It's fairly frustrating and extremely annoying that it's not already 'there' and I have to magic it out of nowhere.
As a comfort I made myself roasted cheese, that always cheers me up. :rotfl: Washing it down with a sneaky early glass of wine helped too.
I wish you all a good evening.0 -
ScarletR Good luck with the clothes. I remember making sleeping bags for Barbie dolls many moons ago, along with other stuff, to sell at a local fete. Luckily I was the only craft stall and I sold everything off the table. I made about £ 100 which I donated to the local Playgroup. ( it was their fete ).Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0

You do right with the early glass of wine.
I suspect my day was as trying as yours. I endured a written barrage of abuse from someone who knows little about the work I do. Why is it that everyone is an expert in my field yet their working life involved doing something completely different and to be honest they have not got a clue.
Insulted and annoyed as well as not feeling 100% after having a horrible virus/flu? I didn't need it and what's worse is I know I won't sleep tonight for re-running all the nastiness in my head.
The perpetrator isn't worth a second thought as she is clearly a nasty piece of work, but that doesn't help me much just now:(
Why are some people so vile?'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Karcher - it’s taken me years to just move it on. I’m a worrier by nature but now I force myself to understand that some people are just t^^^s. And I don’t mean twits!
When we have bothered to get pre-verified assessment tools and someone decides to do something else ‘because’ it drives me mad. I really should just learn to sit and watch the sea come in and go out. :rotfl:0 -
Today I’m off for the first of my regular teaching in Oban for the next 17 weeks.
As you can see, im well travelled.:oThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Gers and Karcher I'm sorry that you have both had such an awful time of it today. Some people seem to want to go out of their way to undermine you or argue for no particular reason. I think they must get a kick out of it. You are absolutely correct in that some people are vicious and vile by nature, to put it mildly. Please accept a huge hug each from me.
PS sorry Judi there doesn't appear to be a thanks button for me to press on your postFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -

I'm a worrier too that is why it has upset me so much.
I wouldn't mind if it was justified or even if I had the ability to defend myself, but I don't and I have to endure reading the absolute tripe which has been spouted...professionally it annoys me..personally it infuriates me..trust me tw$ts doesn't even begin to cover it
Thanks Gers'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Hi everyone,
JackieO, I hope the celebration of Frank’s life goes well tomorrow. It is clear from your posts that he was & is a well loved man.
My day hasn’t gone to plan at all:o The torrential rain dissuaded me from the planned Post Office trip & on to cs, but hey ho:o
Instead I Kondoed my medical supplies i.e. otc medicines & a stack of dressings from when my DH had his accident 6.5 yrs ago. This has resulted in discovering that EVERY tube of cream/ointment is ood, & NEARLY ALL the dressings are ood:(
This led on to phone calls - Dr to find out what happened to my referral to ENT & Mudchute Farm to see if they wanted the ood dressings.
Success from both calls - the clinic has its own ENT Dr. & I have an appointment for tomorrow:j + there is a pharmacy next door so I can drop off all the medicines:j The farm are happy to accept the dressings & will probably use them as ‘wipes’.
So the putative plan for tomorrow is P.O., then farm & home. Out again to cs then hop on the bus to Dr & pharmacy.
No cooking tonight - Chinese delivered as a celebration for my DH being retired exactly one year:T:j Enough left for tomorrow’s dinner:)
Enjoy the rest of the evening one & all & hugs to all who need or want one.
