Mortgage application stalled due to tax overviews

Apologies if this has been covered but I’m wondering if anyone can help. I have posted in mortgages but haven’t got a reply. So thought I’d try here.
I’m in the middle of a mortgage application. The bank has requested tax calculations which I obtained from the accountant and sent off. Now the broker has advised I need the tax overviews for past 2 years.
I Went to see my accountant who said go online I can print it off, otherwise it could take him two weeks to obtain this for me. Is this true? I went on hmrc website created username and it says on there I cannot use this service or I may not be enrolled on it. (Normally accountant files my returns). I rang HMRC and they said only way to get it is online or sometimes if I get a letter from the broker to the hmrc they can write to the lender as they work with them. Is this correct?
Now I’m getting slightly agitated. I don’t want this to drag. The bank seems to be taking forever and I can’t afford to waste anymore time.
what is the quickest way to obtain this overview now in my case ? Advise would really be appreciated. Many thanks

Persevere with gaining online access.0

I'm guessing your accountant may be up to his ears in last minute tax returns right now (the deadline for 2016/17 returns is today), so it perhaps wasn't the best time to ask him.
How have your previous tax returns been submitted, online, or by paper? Did your accountant not give you copies at the time? I do my own, but if I didn't, I'd want to know what someone else had submitted on my behalf.
If online, there will be an account already, for which you would need the log in details from the accountant. Has he given them to you in the past if he is telling you to go online and print them out?0 -
Hi winspiration
To be honest I don’t really know if they was submitted by paper or online. I just know they have always been submitted and been paid on time.
He didn’t give any username. Just directed me to hmrc website. And after creating an account the above message appears.
If he submits them online can he obtain this straight away more or less himself ?
And if it was submitted by paper what are my options?
Is there any other way to obtain this on the day ?
Thankyou0 -
Whether they've been submitted online or by paper, I would have thought that he / his office would have kept copies, and if he has online access, he should be able to print off copes from the HMRC website too.0

Mm, I can’t see what my accountants submit for me online and they can’t see what I submit.
I even have different accounts for different taxes. HMRC don’t really do ‘joined up’.
I suspect it would be relatively for your accountants to prInt everything off, but as said above, they will be up to their eyeballs in SA returns right now.
My accountant is one of my best friends and I can’t get her to pick up the phone to ask her out for a meal in February. The work emails are unanswered at the moment as they’re not as important as all the people dumping bags of receipts at their office this month

Apparently it’s submitted elecontronically. I have had this reply from my accountant.
‘Although we submit electronically, we cannot access data from HMRC for individuals unless they have an individual login, which we have requested and takes up to 2 weeks for HMRC, who will send to yourselves.’
Surely there’s another way

Not sure why they don’t have the data that they produced before they submitted to HMRC? Surely it’s on a reporting system somewhere?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I wonder if its worth asking the tax office if there is a glitch somewhere or asking for guidance on how to access your records? My ex was easily able to access his tax records, his accountant couldn't because he wasn't allowed (was for a period before he did the assessment).0

I have had the same problem with my husband's accountant, who have been trying to put off giving the tax year overviews for the mortgage. Unfortunately for them, I know that it only takes a couple of minutes to access the data, print it off, scan it in and email it across, so I received it quite quickly after that. Tax year overviews are from HMRC's website, not the agent's software.
If they have authority to act for you, they should be able to access this information immediately and if they have been your accountant for years, I find it strange that they do not have this authority. Did you sign a 64-8 or online authorisation code?
The only other way is to ring HMRC and speak to them, they may be able to help you to get them online and/or agree to send paper SA302's.0
