Wrong. If you use the roadside check option, AskMid will tell you the third party insurer and their third party claims contact number.0 -

Technically you do need to report the accident to the police. For a non injury accident the requirement is to stop and exchange vehicle reg numbers and names and addresses. If you don't do this then the accident needs to be reported.
"If you don't exchange details at the scene, you must report the accident at a police station or to a police constable as soon as you can, and in any case within 24 hours"
Quote from the AA what to do after an accident page. I can't post the link as I'm a newish user.
That said for a minor damage where both drivers stopped and spoke to each other it's unlikely the police would want to get involved (even in the unlikely event of the other driver reporting it.)if the0 -

The AA is wrong. The legal requirement is to give details "if required to do so by any person with reasonable grounds ..."
You don't need to give details if no-one asks.0 -
But if details weren't exchanged for whatever reason doesn't the legislation state you now report the collision?

Seems ambiguous. Probably better to report.0 -

I think the AA simplified version is slightly ambiguous rather than the legislation.
If no one is present or interested then you cannot be expected to exchange details.0 -

...report to Police.0
