    Posting early with 21/29 Nov
    4/5 SNC

Just realised I completed 50 consecutive days in a row AF on Monday this week. Was thinking of going for 100 then I remembered that certain time of year between now and 9th Jan (which would be day 100).

As someone who drank pretty much every night, I can't believe I am saying this, but I have stopped missing it at night, just occasionally when we go out. I am not making a decision to stop forever, but at the moment, I am not really making a decision at all. If I continue not missing it, then why go back?

Well done Polyanna on resisting the temptation and 5/5 SNC last week!

All the best with the job interview process Fatrab, you have done so well to get to where you are (and so well with your weight loss and AF).

Fantastic to get to 3 months Glenda, as far as fruit teas go, I am completely with you, they smell amazing then taste like dishwater. However I love the liquorice and peppermint that Teapigs do as a treat (more for sweettooths like me, though no sugar in it), (but Aldi do a not too bad imitation!).

Annie G there was an interesting bit in the daily 30 day without alcohol experiment posts (sorry can't remember who posted this but it has been really good), about trying to focus on the positive rather than the deprivation of not drinking. For me, tonight I am really looking forward to my (fake) G&T! I got 4 small bottles of Gordons ultra low alcohol G&T with a hint of lime, bit pricey at £4.99 for 4 but a lovely treat! The Belvoir juniper and tonic presse wasn't too bad either and only £1.71 for a large bottle. I saw in your posting that you said you had to cut down to save money, being no job prospects at the moment. It's very difficult to change a mindset, but it's even more difficult to cut down because we 'have to' rather than because of all the benefits it's giving us, such as more money, feeling better etc. Hope that gets across what I am trying to say without being too preachy, I don't want to come across that way but I know from experience that it's far easier in the weaker moments to succumb to temptation if we feel like we are doing without?

    Thanks again everyone :)

18/26 and 3/5 SNC for today please

Been studying the practice materials and reading up on the tests as much as possible but the nerves are really kicking in.

Assessment starts at 9.30am tomorrow and can last 5-6 hours.

I've booked tomorrow and Friday off work so I probably won't be back on here until Monday, so hope you all have a great week and I'll let you know how it goes if I hear anything.

Outside of my immediate family you're the only folk I've told that I'm going for the job, I'm desperate to tell my friends but I don't want to in case I'm unsuccessful at one of the selection stages! :silenced::shhh:

Spent nothing so far this month on alcohol for myself - £16 on beers for OH and his mates...not bad! The last time I had a total nil spend on alcohol in a month was July 2012...

BUT gained 2 pounds - not really too surprising been eating too much sweet stuff...must do better:)
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

That sounds like a gruelling prospect fatrab. The selection process for prime Minister sounds simpler!:D

I was very moderate in my drinking yesterday. I had a single glass in the pub then when I got home just finished off Sunday's bottle which was little more than a mouthful. I was very tempted to open another as it'd been a hard day but I didn't. I think the fact that it was late in the evening helped.:)

Probably not the best thing to post on this thread but Sainsbury' have their 25% off wine offer starting again today. My cutting down means that I never pay full price any more as the offers are coming round so frequently that I can't keep up!:rotfl:

You're doing ever so well Green Karen. Good luck going forward whatever you choose. I think that's what really matters. You make the choice.:T

    No drinking here today.

12/10 AFDs please Shaggy and 2/3 for the SNC.
  • Good morning all

Sorry I've not been around much - been a bit busy in RL and seem to be chasing my tail a lot! Started new job last week and all's going well.....(although its tipping down today so am going to get wet...I just KNEW I should leave looking for a job till the new year!:D)

Will try and catch up with the thread over the next couple of days!

    14 for me please Shaggy!
