Good morning all

Busy day yesterday...Piglet was on a sleepover Friday night at my Mums so me and Mr P took the opportunity to go on a walk yesterday. We love walking but Piglets not keen so we are limited when we can go. Did a 6.5 mile one yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Shattered last night, no urge for wine at all and slept the best I have in a long time!

I'd like to join you all for October please?

I'm aiming for total sobriety for the month of October - It appeals to me sense of order that October starts on a Monday this year!

So do I post an optimistic 31 AFD's for this month? It's a very long thread that I've stumbled upon and some of the acronyms confuse me...

Good to have you along and you too Annie .

You'll soon get the hang of it. As you've done, you post your target for the month. That's the number of Alcohol Free Days (AFDs) you hope to achieve and Shaggy will add you to the list. Post regularly how you're doing and we have lovely smileys to motivate. To break the month down some of us who are cutting down do a weekly School Night Challenge (SNC) for as many days as you can manage from Sunday to Thursday. We have smileys for that too.

So the thread is really like a star chart for grown ups!

If you want, you can just post your scores but there's also quite a lot of chat if you're interested. We're all after the same thing: to give up or cut down drinking. It's not easy so we discuss tips to cope and just give each other support, definitely no judging, although just being on the thread seems to build in some accountability.

Thank you Maman, I'm looking forward to it... I've been a little bit out of control recently so it'll be nice to reign it in for a while.

I'll try for 2 on the SNC this week. It's my last week in my expat overseas job and I'm back to the UK on Saturday so I'm expecting a few night out.
