9 days for me. Friday and Saturday nights. Honestly I have no pattern at the moment.

Hey I went to the dentist yesterday just for a checkup, and my teeth are fine (yay!), but the dentist asked me some general questions (do I smoke, how much do I drink) and I was able to honestly say (in response to the latter) about five days a month! Which felt like an answer that would "pass" with someone medical, and it was even true, which felt good too :) Actually my teeth generally used to have some (usually expensive) problem or another (maybe all the sugar in alcohol wasn't helping?) so it felt like a double win.

I wish Baileys were still posting. She did such a great job for months and I miss her.

Me too! We're thinking of you Baileys
  • I Hope Baileys is doing ok, she hasn’t posted since the one on here on 28th August.

That’s good news about the dentist, Cathybird, probably another hidden benefit of cutting down.

I bought my fave brand of wine yesterday and had a planned boozy day for the first time in two weeks. It did not end well. I am hungover and had the worst sleep I’ve had in 2 weeks. Plus I broke the water filter jug so an expensive evening as well as the wine. I even had to have a bucket beside my bed as I thought I might be ill in the night. So all in all I am very disappointed with myself this morning as I wanted to happily drink a bit and then find the stop button - that so didn’t happen.

I know it would be the sensible thing not to drink today but won’t declare now as I know a bloody mary or more wine may appeal. Errgh.
  • Good morning all

    16 please Shaggy

Wanna bee free - don't beat yourself up over it. We've all been there. That elusive stop button has always been my biggest issue so you have my sympathy.

Wasn't AF last night but didn't go overboard. I think this was mainly because I was tired. So a nearly full bottle of wine is in the fridge. I am going to ignore it!!

    Miss P

Oh noes Wanna Bee Free - rest up, take it easy :( It's so easy to do once you get started, that's the problem :( Agree with DelightedMum though - don't beat yourself up too hard, we've all been there - plus lapses are quite useful actually as you remember why you stopped drinking so much to begin with!

Isn't it lovely when you suddenly realise that you're not ashamed to answer basic questions from health care professionals? Genuine progress, and always hard won.

Ouch. I remember those nights well and I have to say from over here - I don't miss the after effects at all. It happens. Frankly I think the necessity of a bucket and feeling horrible all day the next day is enough of a punishment without beating yourself up.

    23/30 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.
