Wow MissP never mind grandchildren, I remember when you were worrying about piglet ready for starting school. Where does the time go??DelightedMum wrote: »Was almost tempted to send Mr P for more but resisted the urge. Now there's no more in the house and I'm aiming for an AF weekend.
Have good days everyone
Miss P
That's a good ploy to avoid temptation although I'd find an AF weekend difficult. I'm a great believer in planning AF days. It seems to work for me if I've 'told' myself in advance I'm not drinking (or I am). I don't have a problem having booze in the house, thankfully s*d it days are a rare occurrence.Fair enough, Honey Bear - I wasn't thinking about bollocking cancer patients for past mistakesso much as letting them know about future risk factors once they had recovered, since surely this woman is hugely at risk?
What irks me is that the budget for Health Education/Prevention is a separate pot from the treatment side. So when the government says that it's protecting NHS funding, it's still slashing the Health Education budget. Also I don't think they've helped themselves much by taking a 'Nanny knows best' approach. IMO this thread works well because posters share hints and tips and offer support rather than wave a big stick.:)
No drinking here today.
16/10 AFDs please Shaggy
and 4/4 for the SNC.0 -
Calling in early with 14 AF days for tonight as am out and driving so will resist any temptation.
Been interesting reading the comments on the Adrian Chiles documentary and the links you sent Shaggy.
I was confused over the whole issue of what makes an alcoholic, but I guess it doesn't really matter how you define yourself. The only thing that matters to me is whether I feel my drinking habits are doing me harm in some way.
It is only in the last couple of weeks I have come to realise that I have developed anxiety issues I never had before over many years and have used alcohol to ease this. And I am not talking about a life controlling, stop you in the street kind of anxiety. I just mean the nagging doubts, the fear of new situations/challenges, the instant turning of my stomach as soon as anything goes wrong and manically calculating whether it's all been my fault.
This has been a gradual and insidious development. But so interlinked, that I feel my level of anxiety dictating how easy or not it is to drink at night. When my anxiety levels are low I feel relaxed enough not to even think about alcohol, I also feel full and satisfied food wise (I know numerous comments are made on this forum about trying to cut down on food).
So it should be easy - I control my anxiety levels, I control my alcohol intake! If only...........0 -
