Creating and saving a back up of Diaries/Threads

Options
Hi,
Have been informed that it is possible to save Diaries and Threads by saving them page by page in html format.
By right clicking on the displayed page and selecting "Save as" and then "Webpage, complete" to the file or folder of your choice on PC or external storage device...
Can the Forum Team confirm as to whether this would indeed help to restore a thread or diary that has been deleted?
Was informed that as it is saved in html format (coded) it is easier to do but I am not a Tech and don't really understand coding etc.
Have been backing up my diary this way and just want to be sure if that it will be safe.

Thanks

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

That will work, in the sense that it will save the content. It won't let you restore the posts literally, but will give you the text of them that you could copy paste important bit into new diary posts.

To that end, if you are just caring about content like that, then it may be better to use the thread tools dropdown menu to "Show printable version" 1st, as that shows the thread in a much simpler format with the text, and not all the rest of the web's clutter of formatting/images/sidebar. Just the thread content, and not mush else.
