Don't think so Speky unless Scarlett has a heck of a pushbike, she lives in the Northeast and I live down 'sarf in Kent :rotfl::rotfl: I think tuesdays are a popular night for pub quiz's as it gets punters through the doors after the Monday night rest from the weekend
We have a lovely pair of Landlords, Dave and Steven who have been together for over 30 years and everyone likes going there Its a very friendly little county pub and very family orientated, they both do lots of things for the community, and considering its not even on a bus route they do very well.Steve cooks the meals and Dave runs the bar.
I love my Tuesday nights as apart from the quiz, we get a small meal as well all in the price for £2.00:j any drinks obviously are extra, but because folk drive there, the drivers can get a decent cup of coffee or tea so don't have to drink cold drinks.A boon on a cold frosty night.0 -
Afternoon everyone.
Another wet and miserable looking day here, I only ventured out to work and back with a little detour to the hair dressers. I won't talk about work as it'll set me off on another rant!
Got a sad email from one of my cousins in Germany to say her 93 year old mum passed away yesterday. That leaves only my DM and her sister-in-law remaining of that generation. Consequently that leaves my generation as the 'older' ones almost. Scarey having not many ahead of us.
I've hauled in the large sack of sunflower hearts which the delivery bloke left in the barn. It's all now in a big plastic tub in the small garden barn with some chucked out for the birds.
There's washing chugging away in the machine, my tea is getting cold and I'm going to put my feet up for a wee while.
Take care folks. Happy rest of Tuesday.0 -
Sitting here trying desperately to stay awake, up early for appointment with GP who is willingly arranging the 3 tests the consultant has asked for locally to save me long trips to the big hospital. Not sure if I am getting another bug, chilly and very tired this afternoon, hopefully better after a night's sleep.
Ma just phoned to remind us about the Penelope Keith best villages programme, the one today from Herefordshire is her village and the son of one of her best friends featured, pleased that they won this heat.
I collected a Ann Cleeves book from the library and have the Clever Guts Recipe book that I found for £7 in Tesco yesterday to peruse too, so need to stay off line a bit more and make time for them.
Gers - my mum is the last of her generation in my family, she wrote of growing up in rural Shropshire in the thirties and forties and my SIL had it typed up and printed for her.
Dumpling - I hope that the girls have had a good day today.
nmlc - So sorry that you and your colleagues have to put up with such awful behaviour, I know that there was a lot of bad things about "the good old days", but whatever has happened to cause so many people to have so little self control and lack of basic good manners.
Judi - I hope that your OH will be O.K., dreadful to learn that a life has been taken needlessly because of the driver being "under the influence".The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -

Myself, my brothers & cousins only have one senior relative & his wife left now, DH and his brothers also just have their late mum's sister left. It is wierd when you think how many of our relatives were still alive when our parents were our ages...I'm still not quite as old as my mum was when I first got married in 1984!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

My ex-OH is the very last of his family. He’s from a long line of only children and we never had children. He finds that even more weird. At least my late brother helped populate the world and his children seem to be following on. My DM has eight great-grandchildren.0 -
No Speky, Jackie and I don't go to the same quiz!! What fun if we did though!!
As Jackie points out we are a few miles apart. Nice thought though0 -
I defrosted chicken breasts on Sunday so did a lot of cooking to use them up.
I made some chicken and veg pasta and froze a couple of portions and also some chicken breasts wrapped in bacon with green veg on the side and I froze three portions.
Had a really quiet day and put my feet up, read a book and had lots of tea. Tomorrow will be busier as a friend is coming round for coffee in the morning. I volunteer at the library in the afternoon and want to go to the WI in the evening.
JackieO's quiz night sounds great.
Hugs to all0 -
GERS you have reminded me that I am the matriarch in my family!! It makes me sound very old! As both my mum and dad were only ones there are no other family members except me and my family and my younger brother and his family. Now Mr TA's rather large family is a different matter - I wouldn't like to start working that out!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

I too am the last one of my generation in the family
But I hope to be around for a few more years to come I haven't got time to croak I am far too busy enjoying life .
By the way we won last night and got two bottle of wine which joins our stash and makes it up to seven in the cupboard. We have a fluid team of 13 some only come once a month and some every week but because I am the team coordinator for the U3A team we save them up and when there is enough we have a share out usually about twice a year if we are lucky:) Great night last night and 9 turned up so we fielded two teams. Our meal was a large jacket potato with cheese and beans which was delicious. a bargain for £2.00 including the quiz
