Will Autoglass tell insurer if I cancel?

The quote to replace my screen was £650. I can't see an insurer having a £100 excess for a repair, mine was £10.0

Was that quote from Autoglass? i had a similar quote from them a few years ago for a replacement windscreen. I then went to an independent fitter who came out and did it for £144 and that was slightly more than a standard screen due to the rain sensor and tinted sunstrip.0 -

It's a screen replacement that I need. I was far from wide awake when I posted0 -
All claims (including glass ones) must be disclosed when asking for quotes (unless you are specifically told otherwise by the insurer)
And AIUI all incidents, including glass ones, even if you don't claim for them, hence my question. From what I've read elsewhere in this forum "recommended" glass repairers such as Autoglass submit a periodic bulk invoice to the insurer rather than getting pre-authorisation (there's a technical term for this that I forget) so I'm hoping that if I cancel my insurer will know nothing about the incident. Autoglass presumably have access to the insurers' databases to confirm the insurance status of a vehicle, but checking that wouldn't amount to a notification? You can get an idea how much effect a glass repair or replacement has on future premiums now by doing dummy quotes online with and without the claim in your history
On a (non-MSE) forum I've read, from two years ago: "Most mainline Insurance companies will allow you at least 2 (or maybe even 3) replacement windscreens (lets alone chip repairs) before considering loading your base premium at renewal." Is that still the case if it ever was?
Would you say Quentin, that generally it's better to make a glass claim or to pay and keep it off your record?
My policy document contains the exclusion "Any amount over £100 for each incident, unless the repair or replacement is carried out by our recommended windscreen specialists who are Autoglass." Taken together with the £100 excess for a screen replacement, this would seem to mean that to claim for a replacement I'd have no choice other than to use Autoglass.0 -
You may need to be careful about this. A few years ago when changing insurers my wife forgot about a windscreen chip repair that I'd claimed for from the old insurers.
The new insurers wrote to us saying they were going to cancel! Fortunately we got it sorted out with no further problems, but it was a lesson learned.0
