benson for beds pillows and their no return policy

All,
read the sticky for advice and looked through forum for help but cannot see anything.
My wife and I bought pillows last year from bensons, long story short was we were there for over an hour trying, the salesperson (obviously wanted a sale) gave us the most expensive pillows at 62.99 each and said they were the best/most comfy etc etc you can get, you will never have a problem with them. He also gave us his own discount to use.
He told us there was a 5 year guarantee on them (wear and tear and loss of comfort one assumes) however after a year of trying to use these, they are uncomfortable, giving me and wife persistent migraines everyday and aches and are just terrible. We are using 4 pound Ikea pillows instead.
Anyway I wanted to take these back however upon looking for receipt I found a t and c contract my wife signed which said no 5 year guarantee on pillows counts. How can I argue this and get an exchange for another, cheaper pillow? I do not want a refund I just want something else. We were almost false sold this pillow with promises and a discount.
Any help appreciated

The T&Cs say no refund, nothing in writing to prove what the salesman told you, so after a year I think you'd have a bit of a battle on your hands unless you can persuade the manager to make a goodwill gesture.0

Comfort is subjective with an item like a pillow. Perhaps the salesman has those pillows and finds them to be the best he has ever used.0

They won't refund (or exchange) pillows that you've been using for a year, how ever much you complain that you were "told" they were guaranteed for five years.
Any reason why you've posted this query multiple times across the forum?0 -
Sorry, but to expect a pillow to be used for 5 years is just gross.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I have a couple of very expensive memory foam pillows that are now well in excess of 10 years old and they are still as good as new.
Provided that good quality zipped pillow protectors are fitted before a pillowcase is put on and both the protectors and pillowcases are laundered on a regular basis, there is nothing whatsoever wrong with using a pillow for this length of time.
Mattresses can easily last 5+ years so why not pillows?0 -

However, expecting a five year guarantee and for the retailer to exchange them after a year of use is unrealistic IMHO0 -
Please don't go in to a branch of Bensons and ask for an exchange on a year old pillow, however expensive. They will struggle to contain their mirth and you will look so, so silly.
We once stayed in a lovely holiday home with gorgeous expensive bedding. I had to buy a cheap pillow half way through the week and would have changed the duvet if I could. It was all far too billowy and soft and suffocating. Bedding is a personal choice and one person's luxury is another's torture.0 -

As most pillows degrade over time (especially feather & down filled ones where the filling compresses and breaks down), I can't see that any guarantee would ever cover loss of comfort for 5 years.0 -

They are not the most expensive ones they do. I know I bought a more expensive one because I know what I like.
The type of pillow you need is generally dictated by what position you sleep in (side, front, back). Did you choose the right one?0 -

Memory foam maybe, I wouldn't know I don't use the stuff, but OP didn't say they bought memory foam. Traditional filled pillows absolutely not.
It's not just the hygiene aspect either, they are not designed to last that long and will not offer sufficient support.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
